Commemorating Hero's Day, BNI Supports Soldiers' Families

Jakarta, 10 November 2021 -- The commemoration of Hero's Day which falls on 10 November 2021 is a momentum to commemorate the services of the heroes who have maintained the integrity and sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. One of them was carried out by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI which gave special attention to the families of soldiers who had died in the line of duty. This is BNI's step as a sign of concern and responsibility to the nation's patriots.

BNI's Corporate Secretary, Mucharom said, as patriots, the services of the fallen soldiers will continue to be remembered. The values of the struggle of the soldiers will also be a motivation for all the nation's successors to remain passionate about building the country. BNI as a state-owned bank has a Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) in maintaining the spirit of patriotism, among others by distributing compensation to the families of the soldiers who have fallen.

"This compensation will be given in the form of BNI savings. Hopefully it will provide optimal benefits for the families of the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia," he said in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/11/2021).

The families of soldiers who on this occasion received BNI's assistance are the heirs of the KRI Nanggala 402 submarine crew, which died last May 2021. This Rp 2.65 billion compensation is part of BNI's CSR program which includes 4 pillars, namely the social pillar, the economic pillar, the environmental pillar, and the legal & governance pillar..

As is known, the victims of the KRI Nanggala 402 crew are the backbone of the family and leave dependents in the form of their wives and children. It is hoped that the compensation provided can be used for the children of the victims' families who are still studying.

"In addition to educational needs, the compensation is also expected to be used as initial capital to start a business as BNI's commitment to providing services and performance in a sustainable manner," he explained.
In addition to providing the heirs of the KRI Nanggala 402 submarine crew, BNI also provided compensation to the heirs of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Victims of Violence. For information, on 25 April 2021, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) confirmed the death of the Head of Regional BIN (Kabinda) Papua, Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha who was shot by the KKB in Beoga District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua. BNI's support is expected to provide value to the public who sympathize and especially to the TNI as one of the company's institutional customers.
