Jakarta, 27 September 2022 -- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI (stock code: BBNI) continues to be committed to encouraging the performance expansion of MSME players in responding to the growth potential of the second half of this year. BNI strengthens coaching and looks for various potential collaborations to be able to accelerate as well as encourage MSME players to penetrate the global market.
BNI Enterprise & Commercial Banking Director Muhammad Iqbal said the resilience of Indonesian MSMEs had been tested during the critical period of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, the second half of this year is a period of expansion for MSME players to be able to realize various expansion plans that had been delayed.
"We all know that MSME business is the first economic segment that is the driving force for national economic recovery. As development agents, we continue to strengthen development and create many collaborations to help recovery, accelerate, and even expand MSME performance to Go Global. BNI is of course still optimistic about the MSME segment can survive amid rising inflation," said Iqbal.
Iqbal continued, BNI sees the potential for credit growth is still quite good even though economic fluctuations are still unpredictable. Especially in sectors that support the livelihood of many people, such as trading in basic commodities.
"BNI's MSME loans are still growing very positively. We estimate that they will survive and continue to strengthen in line with economic performance which is still in an expansionary trend," he explained.
Iqbal explained that BNI had succeeded in disbursing loans for MSME players reaching Rp. 100.2 trillion until August 2022. This value increased by 9.51% on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) from the same position last year of Rp. 91.5 trillion.
"This growth is supported by loans in the trade sector and the agricultural sector. These two sectors contribute more than 50% of the composition of MSME loans," said Iqbal.
