BNI Promotes Jejak Kopi Katulistiwa Program

26/11/2023. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI proactively supports the coffee ecosystem from upstream to downstream export-oriented in order to improve the welfare of farmers as well as MSMEs of the country's coffee commodity.

The Company promotes the BNI Jejak Kopi Khatulistiwa (BNI JKK) program with the initiation of social forestry development in the form of community economic empowerment.

The program is carried out through the establishment of a green economy financing ecosystem for coffee farmers and coffee farming stakeholders by forming a close loop financial ecosystem.

BNI works with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the PMO Kopi Nusantara of the Ministry of BUMN to empower coffee farmers and MSMEs producing national coffee commodities.

In his statement, BNI Retail Banking Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan said that BNI as a financial institution that oversees financial inclusion in the form of proactive sustainable finance-based financing, provides export training through Xpora School.

This is done by providing access to capital to farmers who have forest management rights from KLHK. In this program, access to capital is also provided through the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR), BNI Wira Usaha (BWU) and other commercial loans.

"BNI will continue to encourage innovative programs. We hope this activity is also part of supporting sustained national financial inclusion for communities in the area around the forest," he said.

So far, BNI JKK has been conducted in Garut Regency (West Java), Jember Regency (East Java), Rejang Lebong Regency (Bengkulu), and Temanggung Regency (Central Java).

The latest program has added a new point in Lintong Nihuta Village, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra.

Putrama said that the addition of this new BNI JKK point was carried out to further elevate the taste of Lintong Coffee and increase business in the ecosystem.

"BNI will conduct business matching between farmers and MSMEs of Lintong Coffee commodities with markets abroad. Hopefully, Lintong Coffee will penetrate the export market so that it can contribute to the local economy," he said.
