Implementing ESG, BNI Distributes Green Loans for PLN

29/12/2023. BNI Hi-Movers, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI is committed to channeling sustainable financing including green financing to support the government's target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060.

This time BNI participated in providing the Green Loan 2023 facility to PT PLN (Persero). The Green Loan 2023 facility was distributed to PLN worth IDR 10 trillion involving four parties, namely BNI, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), and PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI).

This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Syndicated Credit Agreement where BNI was represented by alt. COB 2 Division Leader Amalia Savitri with PLN Corporate Finance Division EVP Maya Rani Puspita, at the PLN Office on Friday (29/12/2023).

In his statement, BNI Wholesale & International Banking Director Silvano Rumantir said that by joining BNI in funding the PLN Green Loan, it would increase the growth of BNI's Environmentally Friendly Business Activities (KUBL) portfolio with quite significant value.

"Currently, BNI financing has focused on projects in the Environmentally Friendly Business Activities category," he said.

According to Silvano, this is in line with PLN's mission which is focused on seeking funding from banks which are developing funding that links Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects or sustainable loans.

"BNI supports PLN's activities in efforts to transition energy towards renewable energy, realized in the provision of Green Loan facilities in 2023," he said.

Silvano noted that in the long run, BNI will continue to achieve excellent performance results from green portfolio expansion as well as implementing ESG in all business lines through the use of good corporate governance practices, or GCG.

“Green economy is one of BNI's long-term commitments. It is hoped that this collaboration can have a positive impact and create a greener Indonesia," he concluded.
