09/02/2024. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI, distributed thousands of certifications for teachers in order to improve the competence of Indonesian teachers.
The program is in keeping with the aim of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in developing the capacity of teachers as Digital Teachers that have a sustained positive impact in the education sector.
The program's goal is to help teachers enhance their ability to use technology and apply the Merdeka curriculum.
The teacher certification will be awarded to 1,000 teachers in Riau Province, DKI Jakarta, Bali, East Kalimantan, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). In addition, BNI also provides literacy and financial education to students in one of the schools in each province.
In his remarks at the Kick Off and Press Conference of BNI Berbagi Sertifikasi Guru Merdeka, BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo conveyed that the program was given as a form of BNI's concern in improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
"This is an expression of our concern for education in Indonesia. Hopefully, there will be more qualified teachers to educate more of the country's children," he stated.
Okki went on to say that this certification training was provided in order to meet one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is to ensure inclusive and equitable education and to increase learning opportunities for everyone.
“This certification training is expected to improve the quality of teachers in Indonesia so that they can provide superior subject matter for the nation's successors to compete on a global scale,” Okki pointed out.
In the same event, President Commissioner of Orbit Future Academy Ilham Akbar Habibi stated that this opportunity is an honor for Orbit Future Academy to contribute to the long-term improvement of Indonesian education quality.
He explained, after the success of various skills improvement curriculum in previous programs, and thanks to collaboration with BNI, now Orbit Future Academy has again won the trust to prove the effectiveness of the BNI Berbagi Merdeka Teacher Certification program.
“In the long run, this program must be one of the important pillars supporting the Merdeka Curriculum and the Ministry of Research and Technology's Merdeka Mengajar program, which contributes significantly to achieving the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045,” he explained.
On her part, Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel Nunuk Suryani added that this collaboration is a good opportunity to implement the common goal of improving teacher competence in Indonesia.
According to her, all the tools available in the Merdeka curriculum can increase knowledge and financial literacy for teachers in Indonesia.
“Thank you to Orbit and BNI for this collaboration. I hope this kind of collaboration will continue so that more teachers can benefit,” she concluded.
