BNI Becomes a Catalyst for MSMEs through Cooperation with Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company

(04/06/2024)- SURABAYA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has once again proven its commitment in encouraging the growth of MSMEs in Indonesia. This time, BNI collaborates with Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company (PIHC) through the provision of Distributor Financing facilities to PIHC Partner Retail Distributors.

This strategic step is expected to accelerate the growth of MSMEs in the agricultural sector, one of the sectors that has great potential to grow in Indonesia.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said, as one of the leading banks in Indonesia, BNI has a strong commitment to support national economic growth through the provision of various financial services to MSMEs.

“BNI's focus is not only on established sectors, but also on sectors that have great potential to grow, such as the agricultural sector,” Okki said.

BNI participated in Pupuk Indonesia's Retail Management Model Reward Benefit 2023 event in Surabaya on May 13, 2024 by introducing its products and support for the PIHC business ecosystem and its Distributors.

The event was attended by Retail Distributors of all PIHC subsidiaries, including PT Petrokimia Gresik (PKG), PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang (PUSRI), PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (PKT), PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM), and PT Pupuk Kujang Cikampek (PKC).

On the same occasion, the signing of the Cooperation for Retail Business Development of Toko Pe-i (Pupuk Indonesia) with BNI, represented by Wholesale Transaction Product & Partnership Division Head I Gede Widya Anantayoga and SVP of Sales Strategy and Customer Service of PT Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company Deni Dwiguna, was also held.

Meanwhile, Pupuk Indonesia Marketing Director Mr. Tri Wahyudi Saleh said, in order to provide better retail sales services, Pupuk Indonesia implemented a centralization program for retail sales functions.

“This program has been running since May 1, 2024, therefore Pupuk Indonesia personnel who initially in the regions only handled PSO, are now also ready to provide services for retail non-subsidized fertilizers,” said Tri Wahyudi.

According to him, the provision of Distributor Financing and Retail Financing facilities to PIHC partners is a concrete form of BNI's commitment to support the development of MSMEs in the agricultural sector. Distributor Financing itself is a form of working capital financing to meet and maintain the availability of fertilizer supplies in Distributor business activities.

“Through this facility, PIHC can expand its product distribution reach, improve operational efficiency, and support the growth of surrounding MSMEs,” he said.

Okki further added, in addition to easy access to capital, BNI also provides a digital financial ecosystem for Distributor Partners through BNI's Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM) which can be used for all operational transaction needs and payment of various liabilities.

This step is not just a financial transaction, but also a long-term investment in building an inclusive and sustainable economy in Indonesia.

It is hoped that BNI's steps can inspire other financial institutions to participate in supporting the growth of MSMEs and the agricultural sector in Indonesia.

“By providing Distributor Financing and Retail Financing facilities to PIHC partners, BNI has made a significant contribution in accelerating the growth of MSMEs in the agricultural sector,” concluded Okki.
