BNI and OJK Educate IKN Construction Workers on the Dangers of Online Gambling

17/08/2024. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) again showed their commitment in improving public financial literacy. This time, the focus of education was directed at construction workers in the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN).

In the event entitled 'Economic and Social Impacts and Online Gambling Prevention Strategies' held on Friday (16/8/2024) at IKN, East Kalimantan, BNI and OJK provided an in-depth understanding of the importance of healthy financial planning and the dangers of online gambling.

Yulianta, Deputy Director of Supervision of Financial Services Business Actors Behavior, Education, and Consumer Protection of the East Kalimantan North Kalimantan OJK Office, pointed out that OJK often receives reports related to investment fraud, illegal online loans, and online gambling that affect the community.

“This collaboration with BNI is our real effort to provide protection to the community, especially construction workers who are the backbone of IKN development,” said Yulianta.

In line with this, BNI Network & Services Director Ronny Venir confirmed that BNI is committed to supporting IKN construction workers not only in terms of banking services, but also in terms of consumer protection.

“IKN construction workers are development heroes. Therefore, they deserve adequate education to protect themselves from all forms of fraud, including online gambling,” said Ronny.

He further said that the rise of online gambling is increasingly troubling and causes losses not only for users, but also has a negative impact on families and the surrounding community and even leads to criminality. “The hard work of colleagues should not be wasted because of online gambling,” said Ronny.

On the same occasion, Ronny stated that BNI has provided various banking products and services specifically designed to meet the needs of construction workers.

The mobile banking application wondr by BNI was also introduced to all participants.

This application is designed to help Indonesians undertake more planned financial management based on their respective financial needs through the features of the three Dimensions of Finance i.e. Transactions, Insight, and Growth.

For information, this educational event was also attended by the Director General of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Iwan Suprijanto, and the Director of Building, Area, Office Management of the IKN Authority.
