19/09/2024. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI won an award in the ESG Republican Award 2024 for the Sustainability Reporting category. The award was achieved for BNI's transparency and commitment in preparing a sustainability report that is detailed, accurate and in accordance with international standards.
The ESG Republika Award 2024 was presented to BNI and received directly by BNI Risk Management Director David Pirzada at The Westin Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (19/9/2024). David stated that this award is clear evidence of BNI's hard work in building public trust and running a sustainable business.
“This award is a form of public trust in BNI. We are grateful for this appreciation and are committed to continuing to implement the concept of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in every aspect of BNI's business,” said David.
David further added, this award will be a motivation for BNI to continue to grow and have a positive impact on the environment and society.
“By applying ESG principles, BNI not only strengthens good corporate governance, but also contributes to encouraging inclusive and environmentally friendly economic growth in Indonesia,” he explained.
David hopes that this achievement can inspire other companies in Indonesia to be more active in implementing sustainability principles in their business. “We hope that more and more companies will be moved to implement ESG to create a more sustainable future,” he concluded.
With this award, BNI has once again proven its position as one of the state-owned banks that is committed to the implementation of good corporate governance, and continues to improve its contribution in environmental and social aspects.
Previously, BNI was committed to being the driving force for implementing Sustainable Finance in Indonesia. The principle of sustainable finance is then applied in every line of the company's business with measurable targets.
One of the initiatives taken is by setting a Net Zero Emission (NZE) target for BNI's operational activities in 2028 and financing in 2060. BNI will encourage a number of initiatives both in terms of operations and financing.
BNI also has special attention to encourage debtors towards ESG implementation, especially the transition process towards greener business activities. For this reason, BNI distributes Sustainability Linked Loan (SLL) to debtors who have sustainability targets in accordance with the SDGs goals, including the debtor's energy transition.
On the operational side of the company, BNI is making efforts to improve waste management towards the implementation of waste management with the principle of zero waste to landfill, including a program to foster a green lifestyle in corporate culture. This program is expected to increase BNI's contribution in reducing emissions from waste. (*)
