PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI leads the syndicated credit or acts as Mandated Lead Arrangers and Bookrunner (MLAB) in the syndicated credit agreement worth IDR 1.8 trillion. This credit is provided to finance the construction of an electric car factory PT VinFast Automobile Indonesia.
The signing of the credit agreement was held in Jakarta, Thursday (24/4/2025) between BNI, represented by the Head of the International and Financial Institutions Division of BNI, Rima Cahyani, the participating banks of the syndication, and Deputy CEO of VinFast Global Pham Thuy Linh.
Also witnessing the signing process were BNI Corporate Banking Director Agung Prabowo and BNI Corporate Banking SEVP Pancaran Affendi.
Agung Prabowo said that this collaboration is a real manifestation of BNI's commitment to the development of electric cars in Indonesia.
"This is not just about funding. This is about believing in a bigger vision of innovation, sustainability and the future of the electric vehicle industry. This collaboration can take us faster, further and make a real impact," Agung said in a written statement.
Of the total syndicated credit worth IDR1.84 trillion, BNI took a portion of IDR1.51 trillion and the rest was taken PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk or Maybank Indonesia. This financing will be used by VinFast, an electric car manufacturer from Vietnam, for the construction of an electric vehicle factory in Subang, West Java.
"This factory is expected to become the production center of VinFast electric vehicles for the domestic and export markets, while strengthening the national automotive industry supply chain," Agung explained.
According to him, the active involvement of financial institutions in financing the electric car industry will accelerate Indonesia's transformation towards a green and sustainable economy.
Previously, in March 2025, BNI and VinFast also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the Vietnam-Indonesia high-level business dialogue with the theme "Vietnam-Indonesia: Partnership for Progress and Prosperity" in Jakarta.
Through the MoU, BNI is ready to provide consulting support, local experience and insights, and facilitate access to transactional banking service products for VinFast and other companies in the Vingroup ecosystem.
Apart from that, BNI can also facilitate business partners in supporting VinFast's mission to accelerate green mobility and infrastructure development in Indonesia, while still complying with local regulations and conditions.
