PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is strengthening its customer protection against fraud by introducing a new security feature in the wondr by BNI app. This feature prevents the app from being accessed while the user's phone is receiving an incoming call.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that this innovation is a preventive measure to anticipate the rise in fraudulent methods that utilize telephone communication.
"We are introducing this feature as a preventative measure to protect customers from various fraudulent methods that exploit telephone communications," Okki said in a written statement.
He explained that when a phone receives an incoming call, the wondr by BNI app automatically locks and displays a "Finish Your Call First" notification. This prevents customers from making transactions during the call.
According to Okki, this feature is designed to reduce the risk of fraud that often occurs when perpetrators ask victims to remain on the phone while being directed to make transactions or share sensitive data.
In practice, fraudsters usually ask for confidential information such as OTP codes, PINs, passwords, and other personal data that can be used to access customer accounts.
"With this latest feature, wondr can help customers safeguard their personal data. We also urge customers not to provide confidential information to any party, including those claiming to represent BNI," Okki emphasized.
BNI considers strengthening security systems to be a crucial part of digital banking transformation, in line with the increasing digital transaction activity in society.
Through this innovation, BNI affirms its commitment to continue providing safe, convenient, and easy-to-use digital banking services, while also increasing customer awareness of various potential cybercrimes.
