BNI Promotes Gender Equality and Strengthens Women’s Roles in the Workplace and Society

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender equality through various inclusive workplace policies and community empowerment programs. These efforts are part of the company’s implementation of Kartini’s spirit in supporting women’s role as drivers of the national economy.

BNI Deputy President Director Alexandra Askandar stated that BNI continues to implement policies that provide equal opportunities for all employees regardless of gender.

“BNI believes that women play a strategic role in driving the company’s growth and contributing to national economic development. Therefore, BNI continues to strive to implement policies that support equality and encourage women to thrive and contribute to the fullest extent possible,” said Alexandra.

Internally, BNI has implemented various policies that support work-life balance, such as menstrual leave, maternity leave, daycare facilities, and the provision of lactation rooms in the office. The company has also introduced an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support employees’ physical, mental, and financial well-being, and has implemented flexible work arrangements.

In addition to internal policies, BNI also strengthens the role of women through the establishment of Srikandi BNI as a strategic platform for developing women’s leadership. This initiative fosters collaboration and creativity, enhances the capabilities of female employees, and expands their opportunities to assume leadership positions across various levels of the organization.

According to Alexandra, the growing role of women in the workforce not only impacts individuals but also contributes to broader economic growth. Various studies show that companies with diverse leadership tend to perform better, are more innovative, and are better able to make well-rounded decisions.

Srikandi BNI also aims to have a broader impact through social initiatives and women’s empowerment programs in the community. Future programs will include capacity-building for the younger generation, support for women’s health, and efforts to strengthen women’s economic independence across various regions.

“These various initiatives are part of BNI’s efforts to carry forward Kartini’s spirit—a spirit that extends beyond the workplace to make a tangible impact on society,” Alexandra emphasized.

Through an integrated approach combining internal policies and social programs, BNI has made women’s empowerment a key component of its corporate sustainability strategy. This initiative is expected not only to strengthen the organization’s competitiveness but also to make a tangible contribution to inclusive and sustainable economic development in Indonesia.
