Jakarta, 31 July 2021 -- As a series of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI was again appointed by the government, in this case the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to distribute Productive Presidential Assistance (Banpres) in the form of a program Productive Assistance for Micro Enterprises (BPUM) in 2021.
The distribution of BPUM 2021 began to be carried out symbolically at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday, 30 July 2021, with very strict health protocols. The event was witnessed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, the President Director of BNI, Royke Tumilaar, and representatives of assistance beneficiaries.
This event was also attended by representatives of assistance beneficiaries from 4 BNI outlets in Medan, Tasikmalaya, Pasuruan, and Denpasar branches which were connected online. "BNI is trusted by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs to distribute Productive Presidential Assistance for micro-enterprises in 2021 amounting to IDR 1.2 million per person of assistance beneficiaries or entrepreneurs appointed by the Ministry of Cooperatives & SMEs. All 2.1 million recipients are spread across various regions in Indonesia," said Royke.
BNI was chosen as the channeling bank because it is able to provide a well-integrated distribution system, from collective account opening to the disbursement monitoring stage. BNI is also able to make it easier for beneficiaries in the account opening process (with the burekol system or open a collective account) so that beneficiaries only need to carry out the account activation process before the savings book and debit card can be picked up at BNI outlets.
Thus, the assistance can be immediately used for productive activities in the context of the National Economic Recovery (PEN). The space provided for the account activation process is at all BNI branches. In addition, BNI will provide a special account activation place for areas that are quite far from the nearest BNI branch. BNI services in all branches always pay attention to health protocols with a regular queuing system.
Distributing Various Social Assistance
BNI also has experience in distributing social assistance programs (bansos) to the community. First, BNI collaborates with the Ministry of Social Affairs in distributing the Family Hope Program assistance, which has had an impact on 4.1 million recipients since 2016. BNI has also distributed funds for the Basic Food Program assistance to 5.5 million recipients since 2017. Second, together with the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Smart Indonesia Program has distributed funds to 3 million recipients since 2012. Third, BNI has helped the Ministry of Religion to organize the Smart Indonesia Program which has touched 1.5 million students since 2018. Fourth, BNI has collaborated with the Pre-Employment Card project management office to distribute Pre-Employment Cards. A total of 8.4 million recipients have been channeled by BNI since 2020.
In this case, BNI was the only bank and partner for the development of the Pre-Employment digital system. Fifth, has supported the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency in distributing assistance to 818 thousand students since 2018. Sixth, has organized a Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance program with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. A total of 12 thousand aids have been given since 2018. Seventh, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, BNI has distributed 1,709 seed social assistance to farmer groups since 2019.
In addition to providing features and convenience in the process of distributing assistance, BNI ensures customer security by applying high standards to the security of financial transaction data. "We would like to thank the government for continuing to trust BNI as a channeling bank of various social assistance programs, presidential assistance, and subsidy programs. All the digitalization innovations for the distribution of social assistance, government assistance, and subsidy programs are BNI's efforts in its function as an agent of development. BNI is obliged to succeed in every government program, including ensuring that all social assistance, presidential assistance, and subsidies programs are distributed cashless and fulfill the 6T, namely right on target, right quality, right quantity, right price, right time, and right administration," concluded Royke.
