Jakarta, 21 November 2021 -- The victory of the Indonesian badminton team in the race for the Thomas Cup 2020 in Denmark is an achievement that is so proud and felt by all Indonesian people. The world men's team badminton championship trophy has finally returned to Indonesia after 19 years of waiting.
The Indonesian pride athlete, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, the men's doubles, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Jonatan Christie, as well as other players, managed to bring this proud trophy to Indonesia. They beat China's tough team 3-0 in the final.
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) as the official sponsor of the All-Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has again continued its appreciation by handing over Rp5 billion of coaching funds.
The appreciation was assembled in the BNI Appreciation Night Thomas Cup 2020 in Bali, Sunday (11/21/2021). This event was attended by the General Chairperson of the Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) Agung Firman Sampurna, PP PBSI’s Daily Chairperson, Alex Tirta, and BNI’s President Director, Royke Tumilaar.
Royke Tumilaar said that the big family of BNI HI-Movers shared the joy and excitement felt by the Indonesian badminton team. Moreover, the last victory in the race for the Thomas Cup 2020 was a very long wait that had not been recorded in the history books of national sports achievements. "Of course, this achievement is the result of the relentless struggle of the nation's best youth who have succeeded in proving that Indonesia is a tough nation, and has a winning mentality," he said.
Royke continued that BNI is committed to continuing to support the development and coaching of the badminton branch carried out by PBSI to continue to carve out further historic achievements. On this occasion, BNI allocated a coaching fund of IDR 5 billion to PBSI. "We are also grateful that BNI was given the opportunity to be able to contribute to the development of badminton in Indonesia," he said.
On this occasion, the General Chairperson of PBSI (Indonesian Badminton Association), Agung Firman Sampurna appreciated BNI's steps and commitment to being proactive in allocating development funds for Indonesian Badminton."No single sector can grow without funding. BNI has answered this doubt. We thank the main sponsor PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. for its support to PBSI," he said.
Firman conveyed that BNI's support as an international bank has helped PBSI to carve out at least 14 achievements and world titles with the Thomas Cup as its culmination."We have been missing this trophy for 19 years, and this year we can make it happen with the struggle of all parties. PBSI is the champion, Indonesia Victorious," he concluded.
The captain of the Thomas Cup Indonesia team, Hendra Setiawan, said that he and the other teams would continue to strive to maintain and improve their abilities. Thus, this proud achievement can last longer in the country. "We believe that the mascot can last a long time in Indonesia," he added.
