Improving Digital Literacy, BNI Invites UKSW Salatiga Students to Become Financially Intelligent Generation

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk collaborated with the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (KPwBI) and the Central Java Financial Services Authority (OJK) to hold a public lecture at Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW) Salatiga with the theme “Generasi Cerdas Keuangan, Aman dan Nyaman Bertransaksi Digital (Generation of Financial Smart, Safe and Comfortable with Digital Transaction)”.

1,500 UKSW Salatiga students from various majors attended a talk show which was held on Tuesday (5/11). The activity’s goal was to enhance financial literacy and inclusion among students as well as a form of BNI's commitment in preparing the younger generation to face future economic challenges by providing easy, fast, safe and affordable financial access.

Present as speakers were BNI Network and Services Director Ronny Venir, Head of Bank Indonesia Central Java Representative Rahmat Dwisaputra and Head of the Central Java Financial Services Authority Sumarjono. Acting as moderator was UKSW Rector Prof. Dr. Intiyas Utami, S.E., M.Si., Ak.

“Changes in people's behavior that are currently all digital are a challenge in combating various modes of crime under the guise of fraud that often occur,” said BNI Network and Services Director Ronny Venir in a press release on Thursday (7/11).

Ronny said BNI will continue to actively educate customers and the public to be careful and aware of the threat of various fraud modes.

BNI focuses on Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection which has been fully implemented on October 17, 2024.

Through the implementation of these rules, unscrupulous people can no longer access customer data to offer financial products without the party’s consent.

“After this law is enacted, data leaks can be minimized,” he said.

In his opinion, the current fraud mode is fairly diverse and the target is not specific to one group, ranging from state officials to housewives.

Therefore, personal data must be protected such as OTP, User ID, Password, PIN, CVC/CVV. He also urged students to change their PIN regularly and activate the financial transaction notification feature.

The Chancellor of UKSW Prof. Dr. Intiyas Utami, S.E., M.Si., Ak praised BNI's initiative together with BI and OJK to educate the younger generation in order to realize financially intelligent students capable of making sound financial judgments.

“We hope that activities like this can continue to be carried out, providing education as well as experience for students to get to know more bank products and services and protect the public from various types of crimes in the financial sector,” said Intiyas.

As part of the event series, BNI and UKSW also launched Student Identity Card (KTM) as one of the company's commitments in expanding financial access to the student segment. Apart from functioning as an identity card for students, this KTM can also be used as an electronic money card. This is in line with BNI's spirit in realizing the digital ecosystem in the campus environment.

The activity was not only limited to material presentation, BNI along with BI and OJK also invited all UKSW students and academicians to experience transactions at the Food Festival event using digital payment QRIS wondr by BNI in all UKSW-fostered MSME tenants. This is also proof that BNI is participating in supporting the implementation of ecosystem-based digital literacy in the campus environment.

The event was closed by giving BNI savings appreciation to outstanding students and handing over Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance for Stunting Alleviation in the Salatiga City area through UKSW.
