Accelerating Covid-19 Handling, BNI Presents Mobile Laboratory

Jakarta, 30 August 2020 --- No one has yet confirmed when the Covid-19 pandemic will end. However, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) ensures that all aid distributed can reach communities affected by the pandemic through a series of BNI Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities which are part of the #BUMNPerangiCovid spirit.

To accelerate the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia, BNI collaborates with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) and the BUMN Foundation to present the Mobile Laboratory Bio Safety Level (BSL) - 2 made by Indonesian youth. This facility was handed over to Pertamedika as the first Covid-19 examination laboratory in Indonesia that is flexible and can move from place to place.

The handover of the Mobile Laboratory facility was held at the yard of the South Tangerang City Health Office, Sunday (30 August 2020). Present at the handover were the Minister of Research and Technology / the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Bambang PS Brodjonegoro, the Head of BPPT,  Hammam Riza, the Director of BNPB Preparedness, Eny Supartini, the Mayor of South Tangerang, Airin Rachmi Diany, the Chairman of the BUMN Foundation, Harjawan Balaningrath, the President Director of BNI, Herry Sidharta and staff of Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners of BNI, and the President Director of Petramedika, Fathema Djan Rachmat. Also present were BNI Commissioners, Asmawi Syam and Sigit Widyawan.

The Minister of Research and Technology / the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Bambang PS Brodjonegoro expressed his appreciation to BNI for trusting us and BPPT to help accelerate the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia. The spread of covid-19 is indeed so fast and easy, that it is necessary to carry out mass testing. The capacity of BSL-2 laboratories in Indonesia has only reached 20,000 samples per day. Meanwhile, building a BSL 2 laboratory requires time and money.

"This Mobile Laboratory is the work of the nation's children who will be able to increase the capacity of the existing BSL-2 laboratories in the area. The Mobile Laboratory can also move to any city that is in need," said Bambang.

Herry Sidharta said, the Mobile Laboratorium BSL-2 is the first mobile laboratory for Covid-19 examination in Indonesia. BNI hopes that the existence of the BSL-2 Mobile Laboratory can facilitate Covid-19 examination so that it is faster and reaches various regions.

"Hopefully this pandemic will end soon and life will return to normal, with a real recovery, leaving no other significant difficulties," said Herry..

On the same occasion, BNI also provided assistance in the form of Free Swab Tests for residents to the South Tangerang City Government.

The President Director of Pertamedika IHC, Fathema Djan Rachmat, said that the collaboration with BNI this time is a form of SOE that is moving fast in accordance with its role in contributing to society. As an SOE Hospital Holding, Pertamedika IHC highly appreciates the enthusiasm of the community for having participated in efforts to prevent Covid-19 in the Tangerang area.

On this occassion, Pertamedika IHC delivered a medical team from Pertamina Jaya Hospital (RSPJ) consisting of doctors, nurses and medical support. RSPJ itself is a special Covid-19 referral hospital that has proven its experience in providing the best health services. Through RSPJ, Pertamedika IHC is here to answer the community's need for better health services for the wider community. The provision of BioSafety Level 2 Mobile Lab assistance from the SOE Ministry Foundation is also expected to bring benefits through the convenience provided to the community so that the Covid-19 identification process can take place more quickly and accurately.

"Pertamedika IHC is ready to support BNI's efforts as a form of SOEs synergy. In addition, for Pertamedika IHC, the provision of the Mobile Lab Biosafety Level is a strengthening of the Speed in 4 T mechanism in handling COVID 19 which is run by Pertamedika IHC. Because the Mobile Lab Bio Safety Level 2 unit can be moved, it will allow for a wider range of examinations throughout Indonesia, and this means supporting speed in Testing, Tracking, Tracing, and Treatment (4T) as well as monitoring carried out by our medical experts," he said.

The Head of SOEs Foundation, Harjawan Balaningrath added, "This Level 2 Bio Safety Mobile Lab must be immediately distributed to regions in Indonesia, and for now, we, from the SOEs Foundation that is supported by BNI will make deliveries by land route to Palembang on Monday. Well, today the handover of the Bio Safety Level 2 mobile Lab is symbolic".
