19/11/2023. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI collaborated with the Ministry of Health to hand over Cataract Eye Surgery Equipment to one of the Ship Hospitals in Indonesia, namely the Nusa Waluya II Floating Hospital (RSA).
This aid will be used to provide free services to people in need, especially in Disadvantaged Regions, Borders and Islands (DTPK).
This assistance was handed over directly by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Law and Human Rights (HAM) Yasonna Laoly and Director of Institutional Banking BNI Muhammad Iqbal in Jakarta, Sunday (18/11/2023).
Iqbal said the company was proud to be given the opportunity to contribute to cataract eye operational aid for this Ship Hospital.
As a state-owned bank, BNI strives to be proactive in providing social benefits for all Indonesian people, especially at DTPK.
“With the cooperation of this aid, it is hoped that the issues related to the minimum of medical equipment to perform eye operations in RSA Nusa Waluya II can be solved,” Iqbal said.
According to BPS data, Indonesia is the world's largest archipelagic country, with 17,001 islands and a population of 275.77 million, ranking fourth in the world.
Among these islands, there are regencies or cities with difficult-to-access work zones, and not all of them have suitable health care facilities or personnel.
The presence of ship hospital such as RSA Nusa Waluya II is a mobile health service facility that provides professional services from one island to another in DTPK.
Currently there are 3 Ship Hospitals from Yayasan Dokter Peduli (doctorSHARE), namely: RSA Nusa Waluya ll, RSA dr. Lie Dharmawan Il, and RSA Wadio.
Furthermore, Iqbal stated that BNI and Health Ministry work closely on Institutional and Individual Fund Liabilities. BNI, as the Single Bank Channelling Fund BOK Puskesmas, has channeled to as many as 9,610 health centers in 2023 and 9,709 health centers in 2024, as well as accounts opening for affirmation doctors.
"We hope this cooperation can continue, and we will always strive to provide the best solution to provide added value in the industrial and social fields in the health sector of the country," said Iqbal.
