BNI Supports OJK Strengthening Financial Literacy

13/12/2023. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI is taking a proactive approach to increasing financial literacy among Indonesians. It is hoped that more people will actively and wisely use various banking services.

The Chief Executive Supervisor of Behavior of Financial Services, Education, and Consumer Protection Enterprises of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi and BNI’s Director of Human Capital & Compliance Mucharom attended the Katadata Insight Center's Financial Literacy Index (FLINX) event as part of the BNI's efforts to improve public financial literacy.

This event was continued by watching Gampang Cuan together and was also attended by Gampang Cuan Film Producer Sekarini Seruni and one of the actresses, Anya Geraldine.

Mucharom stated that BNI realizes that financial literacy is a solid foundation for people's financial well-being. The results of the OJK 2022 poll suggest that Indonesia's financial literacy index remains below 50%. However, the good news is that Indonesia has achieved a large gain since 2019.

Mucharom added, this data has provided a clear picture of the areas where all parties need to focus to improve financial literacy.

BNI has also actively contributed to solving these hurdles in order to improve financial literacy.

"Through various initiatives, BNI has focused on a mass education approach, both face-to-face and through digital media such as digital campaigns, online learning platforms, and interactive and informative live YouTube discussion models," he said.

Apart from that, BNI has also demonstrated its commitment to increasing financial inclusion by implementing the KEJAR (One Account, One Student) Program, business matching for MSMEs with disabilities, as well as collaboration with Indonesian Migrant Worker placement institutions.

Mucharom emphasized that the company understands that digitization of financial services is an important key in accelerating financial literacy.

Therefore, BNI will continue to innovate, improve the quality of all existing resources and reliable IT infrastructure to increase financial access for the community.

"We believe that with collaboration and seriousness, we can improve financial literacy to be even better. Let's together create an Indonesia that has a proud level of financial literacy," he concluded.
