SOE Minister Erick Thohir Appreciates BNI's Thematic Education Outlet Digitization Program

08/01/2024. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI received an appreciation for the Thematic Education Outlet from Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir.

According to him, BNI's initiative to present digital services with a distinctive theme in a number of areas of Ministries, offices and universities needs to be a pilot.

"BNI's move is excellent. The banking business must now adapt and become more consumer-friendly, especially now that digitization is demanded. The changes made must be in accordance with the dynamics of business model changes that occur," he said.

Furthermore, Erick said that the Ministry of SOEs from the beginning did not hesitate to rebrand BNI as an international Indonesian bank.

According to him, BNI must be able to compete in the banking sector while having a unique selling point among other national and global banks.

"That is how it can be close to the diaspora and migrant workers as its own ecosystem," he said.

Furthermore, Erick said, BNI must further strengthen international branding by supporting badminton as a sport that has been able to score various global achievements.

"So indeed everything must become one unit where the back up system is like this," he said.

On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that the presence of thematic outlets equipped with banking cafes is important so that customers are more comfortable transacting without having to wait in line like at branch offices in general.

"I think this fits with BNI's new brand which is fresher, more millennial, and more digital, and indeed if now because people do not use teller banking, maybe more self service, more interaction with digital," said Kartika.

Meanwhile, thematic outlets get a fresh look and character. With a digital concept, the banking café service may help local consumers carry out their daily operations smoothly.

On the other hand, this thematic outlet also embodies the government's program to drive digital transactions.

Customers can now use digital services through BNI Banking Cafe's e-channel.

Not only that, BNI will also create a mobile banking cafe targeting residential areas and certain events to provide education, open accounts, and offer customer experience.
