Supporting Hong Kong Diaspora Business, BNI Finances Kampung Kita

24/02/2024. Consistent in carrying out its mandate as a state-owned bank that goes global, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) continues to route lending facilities to diaspora entrepreneurs abroad.

This time BNI provides a diaspora loan to Kampung Kita, which is a chain of Indonesian goods stores in Hong Kong.

Kampung Kita, which has been operating since 2013, makes it easier for the Indonesian diaspora to get products, especially food from Indonesia. To date, Kampung Kita has 7 store chains in Hong Kong.

The diaspora loan distribution was symbolically carried out by BNI Network & Services Director Ronny Venir to Kampung Kita Owner Phang Tjhung Phin at the Financial Education for Diaspora and Indonesian Migrant Workers event, which was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong, Saturday (February 24, 2024).

The ceremony was also witnessed by the Indonesian Consul General to Hong Kong Yul Edison and Chief Executive of the Financial Services Business Conduct Supervisor, Consumer Education and Protection of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi.

Yul Edison expressed his appreciation to BNI for continuing to actively accelerate the growth of diaspora businesses abroad, especially in Hong Kong.

“BNI has become a strategic partner of the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong to improve the welfare of Indonesian citizens abroad. I hope that the distribution of BNI's diaspora loan can also contribute positively to national economic growth,” said Yul Edison.

Ronny Venir said, BNI Hong Kong is an overseas branch of BNI that has a full branch license, so that it can provide banking services for corporate customers to retail customers, including diaspora entrepreneurs.

"BNI offices overseas play a significant role since they serve as a business bridge between Indonesia and the rest of the world. Kampung Kita demonstrates that Indonesian items can infiltrate foreign markets. BNI will continue to promote the expansion of Kampung Kita and other diaspora businesses,” said Ronny.

BNI sees great potential from the diaspora doing business abroad. BNI initiated a diaspora loan with the aim of providing financial support for Indonesia-Related business run by the Diaspora.

“This Diaspora Loan is one of BNI's steps in exploring business potential, both from abroad to Indonesia and from Indonesia to abroad,” he concluded.
