PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI proves its commitment in supporting Indonesian business actors abroad through diaspora loans. Lucky Indonesia Restaurant, which was established in 1987, is one of BNI's customers in Hong Kong who managed to increase its business scale after receiving a Diaspora Loan.
BNI Hong Kong General Manager Farid Faraitody said the diaspora loan is BNI's effort to explore the business potential of Indonesians in Hong Kong.
“Lucky Indonesia Restaurant is the third diaspora financed by BNI in Hong Kong and it is hoped that more Indonesian diasporas will be able to enjoy this facility,” Farid said in a press release on Friday (3/1/2025).
Lucky Indonesia Restaurant founders Chan Hwie Chang and Chan Lin Ying are a lucky couple who received BNI's assistance to renovate their establishment. The restaurant is now run by Lin's second daughter, Jenny Chen. With the new design, the restaurant has attracted more young customers and locals to try out Indonesian cuisine.
"We created a fresh Javanese design, replete with traditional Indonesian music. We serve a selection of satay, sayur lodeh, and even cendol to make our guests feel like they are in Indonesia,” Jenny explained
BNI Hong Kong provided a diaspora loan to Lucky Indonesia Restaurant in August 2023. The diaspora loan program has been run by BNI since 2021 in a number of Foreign Offices with the aim of providing financial support for Indonesia-related businesses run by the diaspora.
Since its establishment in 1963, BNI Hong Kong has been the only Indonesian bank with a full license to provide various banking services. BNI Hong Kong's earning assets in 2024 were recorded to have increased by 55% compared to the previous year. Last year, BNI Hong Kong was also honored as the Best Indonesian Bank in Hong Kong for Serving Indonesian Diaspora from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Hong Kong.
