The BrightUp Cup 2025 event held by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI presented an exciting surprise for the audience at the Senayan Basketball Hall in Jakarta. Two national badminton players, Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, invited two audience members to play directly on the court on Friday (12/5/2025). This spontaneous interaction became one of the most eye-catching moments in BNI's annual sportainment series.
The event took place amid high enthusiasm from badminton lovers who packed the arena. When the two athletes invited two spectators, Nadin and A'la, onto the court, the crowd erupted in cheers, energizing the exhibition match.
This excitement was witnessed by PP PBSI Chairman Muhammad Fadil Imran, PP PBSI Deputy Chairman I and Indonesian Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat, BNI Director of Network & Retail Funding Rian Kaslan, and BNI Director of Human Capital & Compliance Munadi Herlambang. The presence of these officials and sports figures also demonstrates the high level of appreciation for BNI's efforts to bring the concept of sportainment closer to the public.
BNI Director of Network & Retail Funding Rian Kaslan believed that direct interaction between athletes and spectators added value to this year's event. “This interaction brings new energy to the world of sportainment and shows how sports can serve as a bridge to build closeness,” he said in a written statement.
A number of top athletes participated in this event, including Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Hendra Setiawan, and Marcus Gideon. Young talents such as Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin, winners of the Australian Open Men's Doubles 2025 title, also appeared and showed the great potential of Indonesia's next generation of badminton players.
In addition to badminton, the wondr BrightUp Cup 2025 also featured cross-sport collaborations. Basketball players Daniel Wenas and Kelly Purwanto, as well as soccer players Andritany Ardhiyasa and Witan Sulaeman, participated in an exhibition format that expanded the sportainment experience for the public.
Rian emphasized that BNI will continue to present programs that strengthen the role of sports as a vehicle for talent development and public interaction. “We want to ensure that every BrightUp Cup event is not only entertaining, but also a source of inspiration for the younger generation,” said Rian.
This year's series of events and collaborations reinforce the position of the wondr BrightUp Cup 2025 as a sportainment festival that brings together athletes, fans, and creativity on one inclusive stage.
