BNI Strengthens Business Fundamentals, Supporting SOE Transformation

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) continues to strengthen the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), risk management, internal controls, and capital structure to maintain healthy and sustainable business growth. These measures align with the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) transformation agenda and the creation of long-term value within the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem.

One of these fundamental strengthening measures is realized through the issuance of Additional Tier 1 (AT1) instruments worth US$700 million in the international market.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that good corporate governance is not merely a matter of meeting compliance requirements, but rather the foundation for maintaining the trust of the public, investors, and all stakeholders.

"As a state-owned enterprise, BNI continues to strengthen its corporate governance, risk management, internal control effectiveness, digital capabilities, and capital structure to ensure robust corporate fundamentals and professional management, while creating sustainable value and supporting national development," said Okki in a written statement.

In his opinion this commitment is aligned with the direction of SOE transformation alongside Danantara Indonesia. Danantara is mandated to manage and optimize government investments and SOE assets to support national strategic programs, industrialization, and sustainable economic growth.

In addition to strengthening its capital base, BNI is continuing its organizational transformation by refining business processes, leveraging digital technology, and enhancing the quality of its human resources. This transformation aims to boost efficiency, strengthen competitiveness, and deliver services that are increasingly aligned with customer needs.

Strengthened governance and fundamentals also serve as a foundation for BNI to perform its intermediation function soundly. With its increasingly robust business capacity, the company aims to expand access to financial services and support various national development programs.

"With the spirit of Serving Wholeheartedly, BNI will continue to strengthen governance and company fundamentals to create long-term value for society, support the transformation of SOEs together with Danantara Indonesia, and contribute to Indonesia's progress," said Okki.

This commitment is part of BNI’s journey as it approaches its 80th anniversary on July 5, 2026, under the theme *Swadharma Bhakti Nagara*. The theme reflects BNI’s spirit of dedication and service to the community and the nation.

Through the strengthening of governance, capital, and business transformation, BNI strives to maintain stakeholder trust while enhancing its capacity to support Indonesia's sustainable economic growth.
