BNI Strengthens Digital Financial Ecosystem Through API and BNIdirect

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) is strengthening the development of integrated financial services through BNIdirect Bisnis, Open Banking APIs, and collaborations with fintech companies and various digital platforms.

This strategy is part of BNI's effort to expand its role within the digital economic ecosystem—shifting from a traditional provider of banking products to a connector that bridges the transaction needs of corporate, SME, and retail clients.

This commitment was highlighted during the recent Future Finance Jakarta 2026 event held at AYANA Midplaza Jakarta. The forum was attended by approximately 200 decision-makers from the banking, insurance, fintech, payment, and digital ecosystem sectors.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that banks continue to play a vital role amidst the growth of digital platforms, underpinned by trust, governance, compliance, and financial infrastructure.

"Banks act not only as financial service providers but also as strategic partners connecting various business players and digital platforms within a single, integrated ecosystem," Okki said in a written statement.

Through Open Banking APIs, BNI’s banking systems can securely connect with partner applications or platforms. This integration allows services such as payments, fund collection, and other transaction needs to be accessed directly via the platforms customers already use.

BNI is also developing a "Banking as a Service" concept by providing APIs that are flexible, easy to integrate, scalable to accommodate transaction growth, and equipped with robust security and service availability standards.

This approach enables banking services to be embedded directly into customers' business activities. Consequently, customers do not always need to switch to dedicated banking channels to conduct transactions or access financial services.

During a discussion session at Future Finance Jakarta 2026, Efransyah Mudani, Head of BNI’s Wholesale Transaction Digital Channel Division, outlined the company's strategy for responding to changing customer behaviors by developing solutions tailored to the specific needs of various industry sectors.

Looking ahead, BNI envisions financial services becoming increasingly integrated with customers' business processes. The use of artificial intelligence is also projected to help banks deliver services that are more personalized, efficient, and data-driven.

"BNI positions itself as a foundation of trust, an ecosystem connector, and a provider of integrated financial services via APIs to support the growth of a digital economy that is increasingly connected and inclusive," said Okki.

By strengthening BNIdirect Business, Open Banking APIs, and digital partnerships, BNI aims to maintain service relevance amidst evolving customer needs. These measures are also designed to expand connectivity among business players and support the growth of a secure and sustainable digital economic ecosystem.
