Jakarta, 12 July 2020 --- Alpha Southeast Asia was again crown PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) as the bank that provides the best international business services. This marked the achievement of the title of Best Trade Finance and Best International Banking Division at the level of Southeast Asia at the 14th Annual Alpha Southeast Asia Best FI Awards 2020.
BNI is considered to have succeeded in carrying out its role as Bridging Indonesia and The World and developing services for Indonesian Diaspora abroad through a network of Overseas Branch Offices (KCLN). Until now, BNI has six branches abroad, namely Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, London, and New York.

"BNI also supports Indonesian companies to become global businesses. BNI Overseas Branch Offices provide trade finance-based financing to support the operations of Indonesian companies abroad. BNI has also developed trade hubs at Singapore and Hong Kong Branch Offices to bring Indonesian exporters closer to the trade center the world," Putrama said.
Putrama also conveyed, in addition to support the increase of foreign direct investment, BNI has facilitated overseas companies to develop business in Indonesia. BNI established a Japan Desk unit in 2011 which was later developed into an International Desk in 2017.
The International Desk has succeeded in providing banking services and financing schemes in accordance with the needs of foreign companies in developing business in Indonesia. This International Desk service has been enjoyed by more than 400 Japanese, Chinese and Korean companies in Indonesia.
"The two roles above are supported by cheap funding sources from international funding obtained by BNI Overseas Branch Offices and cooperation with correspondent banks. The Global Certificate of Deposit (CD) program launched by New York Branch Office in January 2020 has increased BNI's ability to raise funds abroad and as an alternative to non-conventional funding obtained by BNI from correspondent banks," he said.
Up to the second quarter of 2020, funds collected by New York Branch Office via CD reached USD 414 million.
Diaspora Transactional Bank
BNI continually innovates to meet the needs of Indonesian Diaspora transactional needs, especially in overseas money transfer transactions. BNI presents digital remittance services abroad, among others through the presence of BNI MoRe (Mobile Remittance) at Singapore Branch Office and BNI Outgoing Remittance Mobile Banking Personal in order to improve remittance systems and services that can be easily accessed by each customer wherever and whenever.
The award was named in line with BNI's international business revenue. Until June 2020, BNI's international business recorded a net income of Rp 2.1 trillion, representing a growth of 16.8% YoY. In the past five years, BNI's net international business revenue also recorded a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 38.8% per year.
Putrama added that international business is a differentiating factor for BNI compared to other banks in Indonesia. The existence of Overseas Branch Offices has also had a positive impact on Indonesia because it is a source of foreign exchange derived from taxes.
"Seeing this trend, in the future BNI will continue to improve the profitability of Overseas Branch Offices and renew international business products and services, especially those based on trade finance," concluded Putrama.
