Balikpapan, 25 July 2020 --- As a form of BNI's commitment to support the Task Force for Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Handling Acceleration in Kalimantan in general and in particular Balikpapan City, BNI provides 2,500 FREE SWAB TESTS for Kalimantan Region. Balikpapan City is the 10th city for holding free Swab tests.
This step is part of the program to create SOEs that are free from Corona virus, #CovidSafeBUMN, and one of a series of "BNI Berbagi" programs that provides 30,000 free swab tests for communities throughout Indonesia. In addition, the swab test was also part of a series of BNI 74th birthday celebrations, which fell on July 5, 2020.
The event was held on Saturday, 25 July 2020, taking place at the Parking Yard of Balikpapan Mayor Office.
Present at the event were Balikpapan Mayor, HM Rizal Effendi, the Head of Balikpapan Health Service, Dr. Andi Sri Juliarty, the Director of Balikpapan Pertamina Hospital, Dr. MN Khairudin Sp.B., Dandim 0905 Balikpapan, Kol Arm I Gusti Agung Putu Sujarnawa, the Deputy Chief of Balikpapan Resort Police, AKBP Sebpril Sesa, SIK, the Head of BNI Banjarmasin Region, Mahrauza Purnaditya, the Head of BNI Balikpapan Branch, Bintara and the Coordinator of SOEs Task Force Balikpapan.
During the opening of the free swab test activity, the Head of BNI Region of Banjarmasin, Mahrauza Purnaditya said "This program is a continuation of BNI's steps in helping accelerate the detection of patients exposed to COVID-19 in Balikpapan and surrounding areas. With full support from Balikpapan City Government, BNI collaborates with Pertamina Bina Medika IHC, in this matter RS Pertamina Balikpapan, carried out FREE SWAB TEST for public, medical personnel, Task Force, BNI’s employees, partners and customers. This activity is certainly expected to prevent the spread and provide a precise COVID-19 mapping so that conditions can return to normal". Hopefully we are always given Health, “Let's Bring Energy to Indonesia in the New Normal Era" he added.
Symbolically the Head of BNI Region of Banjarmasin, Mahrauza Purnaditya handed over 500 free swab tests to the people of Balikpapan City to the Mayor of Balikpapan, Rizal Effendi.
The Mayor of Balikpapan, Rizal Effendi who is also the Chairperson of Balikpapan task force expressed gratitude for BNI's care in the effort to handle covid-19 in Balikpapan City. According to him, swab test as an effort to find out whether or not someone is infected with covid-19 is very important for now. Therefore, the community should not be afraid to take part in the swab test because the aim is to maintain health and safety together.
Pertamedika IHC in this matter is RS Pertamina Balikpapan as a state-owned hospital group that has the reliability in conducting co-19 screening examinations. The decision to carry out the examination through a PCR swab test using mucus samples from inside the nose or throat was chosen because it makes this examination more accurate, as corona virus will stick to the inside of the nose or throat when it enters the body. The final result of this PCR swab examination will really show the presence of the SARS-COV2 virus in a person's body.
The Director of Pertamina Hospital Balikpapan, Dr.M.N. Khairudin Sp.B said this activity was carried out to support government’s effort in in breaking the chain of the corona virus distribution even wider in Balikpapan region. In this activity, the medical teams deployed were 9 people consisting of 5 swabber (doctors), 2 nurse assistant swabber, 2 field coordinators who assisted in the implementation of the event.
In this activity, it was seen that the community was enthusiastic about taking the free Swab Test. The Covid-19 health protocol was implemented in this activity. Starting from the participants' arrival, checking temperature and washing hands, initial registration, queuing seats that applied physical distancing, locations that were always sprayed with disinfectants, to other implementation until completion. In addition, medical staff serving the Swab Test also use Complete PPE clothes.
During this pandemic, the CSR aids BNI have provided as the pandemic corona outbreak emergency response assistances were in the form of health personal protective equipment (PPE) to referral hospitals spread throughout the area, hand wash equipment or portable sink and food packages assistance to the communities affected with Covid-19.
