Jakarta, Friday (11/11/2022) -- Today, the Indonesian Masters announced that Indonesia's largest and most successful international professional golf tournament has received significant support from two Indonesian companies, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI and Tunas Niaga Energi. BNI reiterated its commitment to the Indonesian Masters by becoming the title sponsor of this year's biggest golf event in the country.
In addition to BNI, Tunas Niaga Energi (TNE), a company engaged in the Energy Logistic Provider also provides its support to become the presenting sponsor. TNE has been actively involved in the development of national golf. Previously, TNE became the main sponsor of a professional golf tournament on the Asian Development Tour, a secondary circuit under the Asian Tour, last June.
Jimmy Masrin, founder of the Indonesian Masters and Chairman of the Asian Tour stated, "We are very grateful to BNI and Tunas Niaga Energi (TNE) for being the main and presenting sponsors of this year's Indonesian Masters tournament. The combination of BNI's large corporate profile with its reputation in the national golf community and TNE which is now starting to play an active role in the development of national golf together is one of the efforts of this tournament to achieve its goal as a tournament that offers high quality entertainment both on and off the golf course."
The BNI Indonesian Masters Presented by TNE will take place from 1-4 December at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club which has become the home of this tournament for the tenth time. This year, the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE is felt more prestigious because it has increased the prize, from a total prize of US$750,000 to US$1,500,000. The increased prize value of the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE is inseparable from the tournament's status as part of a series of tournaments titled "International Series" this season.
BNI Human Capital & Compliance Director Mucharom said that the Indonesian Masters as a professional golf tournament for 9 consecutive years has become a good branding in the world of National sports.
BNI is also proud of the opportunity given to continue to be able to fully contribute to the organization of one of the premium Asian Tour tournaments which is also part of this year's International Series.
"We hope that the Indonesian Masters can become Indonesia's most successful tournament in December," he said.
Mucharom continued, the increased prize at the Indonesian Masters signifies that this event is one of the most important events of the year on the Asian Tour.
"This is certainly also a very interesting fact that the Indonesian Masters makes a special contribution to the development of golf on the Asian continent, and especially Indonesia," he stated.
The support for BNI Indonesian Masters 2022 presented by TNE was also conveyed by Tunas Niaga Energi as the presenting sponsor. "We see that the Indonesian Masters has become part of the national golf history in the last 12 years. Our participation in organizing the Indonesian Masters this time is inseparable from TNE's desire to be active in the development of national golf. The Indonesian Masters is the right media for our national golfers to be able to compete with international golfers, and of course it will be a history of its own when our players can make good achievements at the Indonesian Masters," said Jubilant Harmidy, Chairman of Tunas Niaga Energi.
The presence of these two major sponsors gives the Indonesian Masters a new name used in organizing this year's 10th edition, BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE. In December, the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE will be followed by elite golfers from the Asian Tour and internationally, as well as the best home players, who will compete for a total prize of US$1,500,000.
This year's BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE will be attended by previous Indonesian Masters champions such as Lee Westwood (former World No. 1 golfer and Indonesian Masters champion 2011, 2012, and 2015), Bernd Wiesberger (Indonesian Masters champion 2013), Anirban Lahiri (Indonesian Masters champion 2014), Poom Saksansin (Indonesian Masters champion 2016 and 2018), and Jazz Janewattananond (Indonesian Masters champion 2019). Besides, this year's tournament will also be attended by various world golfers including the 2010 US Open major champion Graeme McDowell and LIV Golf golfer Chase Koepka also expressed their commitment to participate in this competition.
BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Tunas Niaga Energi will be broadcast live across Asia through the Asian Tour's TV platform, which will be watched by more than 750 million families in more than 200 countries and showcase Indonesia as a global golf destination to the international community. (*)
