A total of 258 athletes from 12 countries will compete in the prestigious international badminton tournament, the wondr by BNI Indonesia International Challenge 2025, which will be held for two consecutive weeks at the Among Rogo Sports Hall in Yogyakarta, from November 11–16, 2025, and November 18–23, 2025.
This International Challenge tournament is organized in collaboration with the Badminton Asia Confederation and the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI), along with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI, and is an important part of efforts to improve the world rankings of young athletes.
This year's event is being attended by representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Thailand, India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Brunei Darussalam. The participation of various countries indicates the world's high regard for Indonesia's spirit of sportsmanship and consistency in holding international badminton tournaments.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that BNI's support through the wondr by BNI platform is a manifestation of the company's commitment to strengthening the national sports ecosystem, particularly badminton, and expanding access for young athletes to compete at the international level.
"BNI hopes our presence in this tournament can be a catalyst for the growth of national sports accomplishments on the international stage, while also strengthening the spirit of collaboration between the business world and the sports community," said Okki.
Okki added that continued support for international tournaments like this is in line with BNI's strategy to boost the competitiveness of Indonesian athletes at the global level. This strategy is expected to improve the quality of domestic competitions and open up wider opportunities for young athletes to reach higher levels.
From an organizational standpoint, this tournament serves as a stepping stone for young Indonesian athletes to challenge world-class players, while also honing their competitive spirit at the international level. Events with an International Challenge format like this usually bring many surprises, as they are a platform where new world badminton stars emerge.
Armand Darmadji, Vise Chairman III of PBSI and also Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the wondr by BNI Indonesia International Challenge 2025, stated that Yogyakarta was chosen to host two consecutive tournaments based on its international standard facilities, the readiness of the local organizing committee, and the public's high enthusiasm for badminton.
"The performance of the PBSI Yogyakarta Provincial Management and their team shows high readiness in carrying out large-scale events. A good track record and extraordinary public support is a guarantee that this year's event will be successful and memorable for all participants," said Armand.
With continued commitment, BNI hopes that its contribution will be able to encourage the birth of more outstanding athletes and further advance the world of Indonesian badminton.
