9/11/2023. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, also known as BNI, remains a pioneer in improving Indonesia's digital payments ecosystem. BNI has provided digital payment solutions that may be integrated directly with customer systems via API (Application Programming Interface) services.
Corina Leyla Karnalies, Director of Digital and Integrated Transaction Banking at BNI, stated that the digital era of business in Indonesia is rapidly evolving.
"With the BNI API service, we want to continue serving customers by providing various digital payment solutions that are fast, safe and easy," he said.
Corina noted that BNI first implemented API in 2017 where the first service that BNI had was a virtual account.
In 2019, BNI developed the BNI API digital services portal to make it easier for potential customer users to explore BNI's API services and integrate more quickly and easily via the sandbox.
In 2021, BNI officially has a total of 280 API services that have been licensed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). In 2022 BNI became the first driver of Bank Indonesia (BI) National Payment API Standards (SNAP).
BNI has also received approval to implement SNAP for Virtual Account & Transfer (Intrabank) services in the same year.
"In general, BNI has API services to facilitate customers in transactions, including disbursement, collection, payment, account information & digital account opening," she said.
Corina continued on the roadmap in 2023-2024, the company plans to complete API services so that it can facilitate SCF transactions, bank guarantees, remittances, BI Fast, cardless withdrawal & transaction creation on BNI Cash Management (BNIDirect).
Currently, API has more than 4,000 customers generating a total API hit of 295 million, total transaction items of 115 million with transaction volume reaching IDR 609.6 trillion until October 2023.
"The BNI customer onboarding process has also been made easier with the API digital services portal which accommodates API services provided by BNI," she added.
New Features of BNI API Services
The BNI API digital services portal now offers a comprehensive sandbox with new features, so customers can test BNI APIs, and a Software Development Kit (SDK) to make it easier for customers to design applications and is available in multiple programming languages (Java, PHP, Python).
Then, there is also postman collection which makes it easy for customers to try out by simply importing the postman collection provided by BNI into the customer's postmant system.
BNI API also features auto populate, which can make it easier for customers to automatically fill in sample data. The API SNAP function is also available on the BNI API digital services platform.
"Of course, we continue to develop this new feature. We are proactive in analyzing customer needs, and strive to be served through one BNI API integrated solution platform," he mentioned.
