19/11/2023. Gaganjeet Bhullar emerged victorious after dominating all four rounds of the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Tunas Niaga Energy (TNE) 2023.
He finished 24 strokes under par, for a total of 260 strokes. Aside from that, the host's pride golfer, Jonathan Wijono, finished with a total score of 9 under 275, making him the top competitor in Indonesia.
Bhullar is one of the international golf athletes who has never missed the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE competition since its inception in 2011.
The Indian golfer's lengthy fight eventually led him to the honorary trophy of the world-class circuit with International Series designation, as well as a prize worth $270,000.
Bhullar said every match at the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE was a valuable experience and learning.
He always strives to appear more focused and calm even though he sometimes makes mistakes.
"There are no special weapons. TNE's tours of the BNI Indonesian Masters are not simple. However, the event here teaches an essential lesson. "I always maintain fitness by stretching, sharpening my shots and focusing," Bhullar remarked.
Bhullar commended BNI's consistent role as the primary sponsor of this international-class tour. According to him, it is an excellent moment for Indonesian golfers to improve their talents and gain exposure to international competition.
He also praised BNI for continually showing high appreciation to golfers by awarding a total reward of US$1.5 million, or the equivalent of Rupee 23.5 billion, during this year's competition.
"BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE is even very beneficial for international golfers to advance their careers," he said.
Meanwhile, second place was filled by Karandeep Kochhar who is also from India, with a total score of 19 under 265.
The third place was filled by Ben Campbell (New Zealand), sharing a place with David Puig Currius (Spanyol). They each packed a total of 18 under 266.
On the Indonesian side, Jonathan, also known as Jowi, became the greatest national athlete with a total score of nine under 275. This was his second international series tour, and he passed the cutoff.
"Satisfied. Not because of the overall score, but because of the patience and calmness when taking a shot. I've been determined to commit to the stroke since I entered the arena," Jowi concluded.
Jowi and the 11 golfers were each awarded US$12,725 for their efforts this time around.
BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar praised all of the golf athletes who persevered in demonstrating their hard work and beautiful game on the International Series Tour.
He said BNI is proud to meet many international golfers, as well as Indonesian proud golfers.
"Of course this is a very positive event. Congratulations to the winners and athletes who have competed. We're honored to meet so many golf enthusiasts around the world in this one International Series Tour," he added.
