BNI Berbagi, Distributes Emergency Response Aid for Lewetobi Flores Volcano Eruption

04/01/2024. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI handed over emergency response assistance for the Lewetobi Laki-Laki Volcano eruption disaster, in Wulanggitang Sub-Regency, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki experienced a major eruption on December 23, 2023 and its status rose to Disaster Emergency Alert on January 1, 2024. Based on a temporary report from PMI East Flores Rapid Response Team, at least 2,254 people were displaced.

The handover of assistance by BNI Berbagi was carried out in the context of social service which aims to carry out BNI's social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) for the community.

The assistance was provided in the form of food packages and other necessities for refugees delivered directly by BNI KC Maumere Branch Manager I Gede Widiartha to the Regent, Dandim and Kapolres of East Flores Regency on Wednesday (3/1/2024).

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said, as one of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) that proactively runs the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program through BNI Berbagi, the company has a sense of responsibility to spread concern for the community.

"This assistance is expected to ease the burden on the people affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki," he said.

Okki explained, BNI Berbagi is a form of the company's commitment in carrying out its duties and functions to provide wider benefits to the community.

"Hopefully this emergency assistance will encourage the refugees to continue their daily activities," he concluded.
