20/01/2024. PT HABE is an export MSME actor that has succeeded in penetrating the global market. One clear proof is being a participant in a prestigious global exhibition by The Korean Importer Association (KOIMA).
HABE was founded in November 2013. Initially they were a Foreign Capital Company (PMA) established by Hendra Budiman and two colleagues who were Dutch citizens residing in Klaten City. This company operates in the handicraft sector which has various products.
Hendra said that the company has several product clusters, including teak wood crafts, craft products made from leaves and flowers, bamboo, Albasia wood, natural stone, and dream catcher collections.
All products produced by HABE are shipped abroad and their turnover last year reached USD 2.1 million or the equivalent of IDR 32.77 billion, and they employed a large number of workers.
"If the turnover last year was around USD 2.1 million for 2023, of course we hope this can continue to grow to encourage strengthening the performance of Indonesian MSMEs," he said.
HABE collaborates with various vendors to obtain materials that will be processed into various handicraft products.
For teak wood, the company collaborates with several vendors from East Java region, such as Ngawi and Bojonegoro. For leafy materials such as banana stems and water hyacinth, they are obtained from vendors in Bantul.
Then, for the Albasia wood which will be processed into fish and seahorse shapes, comes from Bali. The raw materials for making dream catchers come from Madura, and bamboo and rattan come from Magelang and Klaten.
"We have more than 50 vendors. The products are semi-finished, then sent to HABE, we improve the quality, and packed," said Hendra.
Hendra added that PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI also had a big contribution to their success, especially through the BNI Xpora program.
Hendra said, since its inception in 2013, his party has collaborated with BNI, starting from managing company finances to receiving support for business matching and training.
"We use both payroll and foreign exchange buying and selling at BNI. For other financial transactions with customers we use BNIDirect. BNI also supports business matching, and provides certain training events," he concluded.
