29/02/2024. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI is committed to continuing to support the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan Province. BNI will present the BNI building in IKN which is intended to answer various banking service needs in Indonesia's future capital city. The company officially groundbreaked the construction of the BNI building at the Mini Financial Center in IKN on February 29, 2024.
The groundbreaking process was attended by the Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar, Head of the Nusantara National Capital Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono, accompanied by BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar. Also present at the groundbreaking were BNI's Board of Directors, BNI Wholesale & International Banking Director Silvano Winston Rumantir, BNI Institutional Banking Director Muhammad Iqbal, and BNI Technology & Operations Director Toto Prasetio.
Royke said that the construction of the BNI building at IKN is a form of the company's proactivity in supporting the government in developing IKN. “The construction of the BNI building is our real step to realize the ideals of IKN development. We are optimistic that this BNI building will be the beginning of the formation of a banking ecosystem here,” said Royke, Thursday (29/2). Located in the Mini Financial Center area with a land area of around 9,000 square meters, the BNI building at IKN will facilitate smart-digital banking services with a futuristic yet environmentally friendly building design.
This is consistent with BNI's aim to being a leader in offering efficient and environmentally responsible banking services. BNI's Smart City IKN idea highlights the need of incorporating smart technology into all aspects of life in the region. BNI seeks to develop a sustainable and highly competitive ecosystem in IKN by focusing on smart people, smart governance, smart infrastructure, smart environment, smart economy, and smart society.
The plan, the BNI building in IKN will carry the concept of blended with nature which is realized in a design that follows the contours of the land, responds to the river flowing on the site, and maximizes natural vegetation on the land to present a modern building while still integrating into the surrounding natural context. Royke went on to say that the presence of the BNI building in IKN is also clear evidence of the presence of a digital service ecosystem in the IKN area. “Of course, IKN will generate many business opportunities. We want to be the first state-owned bank to address the potential for business growth,” he concluded.
