PBSI Delivering Indonesia to Win All England Open 2024, BNI Gives Highest Appreciation

18/03/2024. JAKARTA – The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) was able to deliver Indonesia to achieve achievements at the All England Open 2024. Indonesia won the men's singles title and defended the men's doubles title at Utilita Arena Birmingham, England, on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

Indonesia's success in winning the men's singles title and defending the All England men's doubles title came from PBSI's diligent preparation.

This was evident of PBSI's decision to bring Ad Hoc team members to the European tour for the first time, namely nutritionists, sports science experts, and psychologists. The presence of a psychologist was needed to support the mentality of Jonatan Christie and his friends. This strategy was carried out based on the results of the French Open 2024, last March 5-10.

According to the Psychologist Coordinator of the Paris 2024 Olympic Ad Hoc Team, Lilik Sudarwati, the fighting power of Indonesian badminton athletes must be increased. Experience at the French Open must be used as a lesson. Therefore, PBSI's concrete step was to bring the Ad Hoc team to the European tour, including the All England Open.

In terms of psychology, said Lilik Sudarwati, every player must have an unyielding mentality and be ready to fight until the end. If, they have to lose, the opponent should not win easily. They should not give easy points.

“Thanks to the hard work and diligent preparation carried out by PBSI, Indonesia won the men's singles title as well as being able to defend the men's doubles title at the All England Open 2024,” said Lilik.

As for the men's singles final match of the BWF Super 1,000 tournament, Jonatan Christie won the title after silencing his compatriot, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting with a score of 21-15, 21-14 in 55 minutes.

The last time Hariyanto Arbi won the All England Open men's singles title was in 1994. At that time, Hariyanto Arbi eliminated his compatriot, Ardy Bernardus Wiranata.

Then, in the men's doubles final, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto successfully defended the All England Open title after crushing the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalists from Malaysia, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik with a score of 21-16, 21-16.
