Supporting Energy Transition, BNI Funds Solar PV Project

25/03/2024. JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI is committed to supporting the national energy transition through the distribution of green financing.

As a tangible manifestation of this commitment, BNI provided a credit facility to PT Medcosolar Bali Timur for the construction of a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 25 Megawatt peak (MWp) in Tianyar Village, Kubu District, Karangasem Regency, Bali Province.

This PLTS project is the largest ground mounted PLTS project in Indonesia initiated by PT Medcosolar Bali Timur, a subsidiary of PT Medco Power Indonesia. BNI acts as the sole lender for this project.

The signing of the Credit Agreement was carried out by Senior Vice President of Corporate Banking 2 BNI Ditya Maharhani Harninda and Director of PT Medcosolar Bali Timur Myrta Sri Utami at the Office of PT Medco Power Indonesia, Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 27, 2019 (20/3/2024).

BNI Director of Wholesale and International Banking Agung Prabowo conveyed, BNI's participation in Green Loan funding is a form of BNI's commitment to support the achievement of the government's net zero emission target by 2060.

"Currently, BNI is actively focusing financing on projects included in Environmentally Sound Business Activities (KUBL) as an effort to encourage green energy transition in Indonesia," Agung said.

According to Agung, this collaboration is in line with the mission of PT Medco Power Indonesia as one of the parent companies of PT Medcosolar Bali Timur to provide long-term value with a business portfolio of clean energy Independent Power Producer (IPP), Operation & Maintenance (O&M) and sustainable renewable energy.

The funding of this PLTS project is also a form of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation at BNI. "This collaboration is expected to have a positive impact and realize a greener Indonesia," Agung concluded.
