15/05/2024. Since its establishment in 2022, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI's office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has continued to show its commitment to expanding its business reach in Europe, especially Indonesian-related businesses.
BNI Human Capital & Compliance Director Mucharom said, with the presence of Indonesian diasporas in the Netherlands reaching 1.7 million people who come from various backgrounds, ranging from professionals, entrepreneurs, to students, BNI Amsterdam is present to provide comprehensive banking services.
"BNI Amsterdam is the key companion for diasporas, including diaspora entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses abroad. One of its commitments is to aggressively channel Diaspora Loan, which would be further improved in the future,” Mucharom said.
Mucharom further explained that BNI's Diaspora Loan debtors in the Netherlands are dominated by Indonesian culinary businesses, such as Warung Padang Lapek Jo, Nona Manis Restaurant, and Lestari Restaurant. The three restaurants serve Indonesian specialties in the Netherlands.
In this context, BNI not only offers funding but also integrates the Diaspora Loan within the Xpora program. This is intended to make it easier for these eateries to obtain raw materials and side dishes from Indonesia.
“One of Xpora's partners in the Netherlands, Nesia Food, is an importer of various food ingredients from Indonesia, including products from BNI MSME debtors. Nesia Food has become a supplier of palm sugar, kitchen spices, frozen vegetables, and various kinds of crackers for BNI debtor restaurants,” Mucharom explained.
Mucharom added, BNI opens opportunities for diasporas who want to start or develop their business in the Netherlands with several requirements, namely having a legal entity, good financial reports for the last three years, and not being involved in illegal businesses in Indonesia and the Netherlands.
“In addition to serving diasporas, BNI Amsterdam also actively serves various banking transactions from local Dutch companies and branches of state-owned companies in Europe,” Mucharom added.
BNI's presence in the Netherlands is a form of BNI's commitment to supporting Indonesian diasporas and strengthening business in Europe. With various services and programs offered, BNI hopes to contribute to the economic progress of the diasporas and bilateral relations between Indonesia and the Netherlands.
