(30/6/2024) - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI again shows its innovation in the international banking segment by launching the DigiRemit application in Japan. This application is designed to make it easier for the Indonesian diaspora in Japan to register a Remittance Card and send money overseas.
The launch of DigiRemit was carried out in conjunction with the “Financial Planning & Public Information Disclosure Education for Japan's Diaspora” event held in Osaka, Japan, on Sunday (30/6/2024). This event is the result of collaboration between BNI, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the Central Information Commission (KIP), and is aimed at Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) Internships in Japan.
John Tjahjanto Boestami, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia to Osaka, attended the event along with several other dignitaries, including OJK Chief Executive Officer of Financial Services Business Conduct Supervision, Consumer Education and Protection Friderica Widyasari Dewi, KIP Commissioner Samrotunnajah Ismail, Indonesia Stock Exchange Director of Development Jeffrey Hendrik, and BNI Director of Network & Services Ronny Venir.
Friderica Widyasari Dewi, also known as Kiki, welcomed the launch of the DigiRemit application. “OJK continues to urge the public, including the Indonesian diaspora abroad, to use financial service products from OJK-supervised institutions to prevent various risks. BNI provides convenience and security for diaspora remittance transactions,” said Kiki.
Kiki added, OJK hopes that through this event, PMI can be wiser in managing their finances and investments to avoid becoming victims of financial cases by irresponsible parties. “Our hope is that PMI will be wiser in managing finances and investments, so that they can be successful as business people both in Japan and in Indonesia,” she said.
Inspiration for PMI Interns
In addition to the launch of the application, BNI also presented inspiration for PMI by featuring two former PMI interns who are now successful in business. Both the owner of Garuda Seiko, an engine and vehicle component manufacturing company in Japan, and the owner of PT Sumo Andalan Power, a heavy equipment rental company in Bekasi, West Java, shared their experiences.
BNI Network & Services Director Ronny Venir explained that the two businesses are currently in the process of credit assessment by BNI. BNI not only supports the departure of PMI Interns through KUR PMI products, but is also ready to finance the businesses of PMI both outside and inside the country after they have passed the internship program.
“BNI Tokyo has obtained a full branch license, allowing it to serve various financial transaction needs of the Indonesian diaspora, including through the DigiRemit application which has just been launched today. We expect that PMIs would be more keen to learn and make contacts for future entrepreneurship. BNI is ready to support all of that,” explained Ronny.
Through this innovation, BNI hopes to further strengthen the relations with the Indonesian diaspora in Japan and support them in managing their finances and achieving success abroad.
