PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI held a Compliance Forum with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) with the theme “Realizing an Anti-Corruption Culture Through Cultivating Integrity Values”. This forum represented BNI's commitment to raising awareness about anti-corruption culture and the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG).
The event was attended by various high-ranking BNI officials, including the Board of Commissioners, Directors, SEVPs, Division Heads, and Regional Heads, as well as BNI employees certified as Integrity Builder Experts (API) and Anti-Corruption Instructors (PAKSI). In addition, all BNI employees also attended the event online.
BNI Director of Human Capital & Compliance Mucharom stated that this event was a form of BNI's commitment in increasing the awareness of all employees on the importance of integrity and corruption prevention. “We wanted to ensure that all BNI employees understandd and carry out anti-corruption values in every task and function,” Mucharom said in Jakarta, Wednesday (August 14, 2024).
According to Mucharom, BNI has implemented various initiatives to support an anti-corruption culture, such as the implementation of the Code of Ethics, Conflict of Interest Guidelines, and Gratification Control Guidelines. In addition, BNI has also implemented the Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) as well as the implementation of KPK's Prevent Corruption Guide (CEK Guide).
Plus, BNI periodically requires its employees to complete mandatory learning, signing the Integrity Pact, Daily Exercise Employee Program (DEEP 46) and Gratification & Anti-Bribery Declaration. Since 2020 BNI has also been certified with ISO 37001: 2016 concerning SMAP and has gradually expanded the scope of its certification.
Mucharom further mentioned, for the past two years, BNI has received appreciation as the agency with the highest gratification report. “This is the result of BNI's commitment to gratification control, where the internalization and socialization process continues to be carried out to increase employee awareness in reporting the receipt or rejection of gratuities,” said Mucharom.
Efforts to build an anti-corruption culture are not only carried out at the parent company level, but also in all BNI subsidiaries. Mucharom emphasized that all BNI subsidiaries have gratification control units and apply the same guidelines as the parent company.
Mucharom added, through this forum, BNI hopes to further strengthen the commitment of all employees in realizing an anti-corruption culture. “We wanted BNI to be an example for the banking industry in implementing good corporate governance,” Mucharom concluded.
Meanwhile, KPK Deputy for Education and Community Participation Wawan Wardiana appreciated BNI's commitment to corruption eradication efforts. “Cooperation between the public and private sectors like this is very important to create a clean and transparent business environment,” said Wawan.
He also hoped that this event can be a moment for BNI to continue to improve the quality of the implementation of BUMN AKHLAK core values which guide the behavior of MSME personnel in implementing good corporate governance for the business world in Indonesia.
