PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI continues to strengthen its commitment in encouraging Indonesian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to penetrate the global market through the BNI Xpora program. One of the success stories born from the program is Java Frinsa Estate, a coffee producer from Pangalengan, West Java, which has successfully exported its products to Europe, the United States, Japan, and Australia.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo explained that the BNI Xpora program is focused on helping export MSME players in terms of advisory and developing business opportunities. “The main focus of this program in 2025 is advisory and organizing business events that open up opportunities to increase competitiveness and direct SME business impact,” Okki said in a written statement.
One of BNI Xpora's partners who has directly benefited from this program is Wildan Mustofa, founder of Java Frinsa Estate. Wildan has been pursuing agriculture since 1993, and began developing a sustainable coffee farm in 2010 in an area previously used for seasonal crops on erosion-prone land.
The coffee business, which started in 2011 with local farmers and marketing partner Hikmah Farm, is growing rapidly through CV Frinsa Argolestari. Wildan and his team introduced environmentally-friendly coffee farming systems, digital marketing, and product discounts to attract a wider market.
The coffee varieties developed are diverse, such as Sigararutang, Gayo 1 and 2, Kopyol, Musda, Kaptora, to modern hybrids. With consistent premium quality, Frinsa products have successfully penetrated the export market since 2015.
Frinsa coffee has also won a number of prestigious awards, including 2nd place in Cupping Contest-6 (2014), runner-up in Coffee Auction SIAL Interfood (2015), and Gold Medal at Nelsen Australia (2018).
BNI fully supports Frinsa's export journey by providing investment loans of IDR200 million, working capital of IDR1.9 billion, and export credit facilities of up to IDR6 billion.
“Our export value reached US$1 million with four containers of coffee shipped to Europe and two containers to the United States,” Wildan said.
Besides contributing to national exports, Frinsa also creates jobs in the region. Currently, Frinsa employs 30 permanent employees, 10 staff, and seasonal labor according to harvest and production needs.
Wildan also shared successful tips for coffee MSME players who want to make headway in the export market. “Must have good quality and good commitment, consistency and competitive prices. You also have to pay attention to nature conservation, gender equality, and education," he said.
BNI's steps in assisting MSMEs such as Java Frinsa Estate reflect the company's strategy to encourage more Indonesian businesses to appear on the global stage, while creating sustainable economic impact in the regions.
