BNI Strengthens Support for ITB and Alumni Thru Inclusive Financial Innovation

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, continues to strengthen its role in supporting the development of higher education in Indonesia, particularly thru strategic collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and its alumni network.

This commitment was realized thru a variety of inclusive financial innovations introduced at the Community Run event held in the Car Free Day Sudirman area, Jakarta, on Sunday (24/8/2025), as part of the pre-event leading up to the main wondr ITB Ultra Marathon 2025.

One such innovation is the BNI-ITB Affinity Credit Card, where every user transaction automatically contributes 0.3 percent to the ITB Endowment Fund. This fund will be used to support sustainable scholarship programs, research, and academic development.

BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan stated that the BNI-ITB Affinity Credit Card not only provides transaction convenience for users but also serves as a tangible means to support the ITB Sustainable Fund.

"Every transaction with this card automatically sets aside a portion of the funds for scholarships, research, and academic development. In this way, users are also contributing to the sustainability of education in Indonesia," said Putrama in his written statement.

The symbolic handover of this card was done by Putrama to Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who is an ITB alumnus, witnessed by BNI Vice President Commissioner Tedi Bharata, TB Rector Tatacipta Dirgantara, and the BNI board of directors.

The ITB Rector Tatacipta Dirgantara welcomed the initiative. "The ITB Ultra Marathon, which started in 2017, continues to receive great enthusiasm from alumni. "We are grateful to BNI for consistently supporting this event from the beginning and for returning with new innovations to strengthen the ITB education ecosystem," said Tatacipta.

In addition to credit cards, BNI also launched the ITB Co-Branding Alumni Debit Card, which serves a dual function as alumni identification, a debit card, and TapCash electronic money. This card was symbolically handed over by Putrama to the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, witnessed by BNI's Chief Commissioner, Omar Sjawaldy Anwar.

BNI also released a limited edition TapCash card with a special design for the ITB Ultra Marathon2025. The card mockup was presented by BNI Vice President Director Alexandra Askandar to the ITB Rector, witnessed by BNI Vice President Commissioner Tedi Bharata.

Thru continuous collaboration and inclusive financial innovation, BNI reaffirms its commitment to accompany every step of ITB and its alumni toward a more empowered, inclusive, and sustainable future.
