PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BNI) has issued a clarification regarding a viral video showing a large crowd moving around the BNI Pejompongan Tower. BNI confirmed that the situation around the office is safe and under control, and assured that no customers or employees were present at the location when the incident occurred.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo explained that the events in the video captured the movement of a group of people who were only passing thru the drop-off area toward the residential area behind the BNI Tower and did not enter the building.
"At the time of the incident, there were no customers or employees in the area because the branch office operations had closed and employees had been sent home early for security reasons," said Okki in a written statement.
Okki added that BNI always prioritizes the safety of its customers and all its employees. The steps to return employees and close operations early are standard procedures taken in potentially unconducive situations.
He also ensured there was no damage to the facilities inside the building. "The conditions at BNI Pejompongan are safe. None of the tenants inside the building experienced any damage and it has been handled by their own parties," Okki asserted.
This clarification is expected to provide the public with an explanation of the actual situation and correct the information circulating. BNI urges the public not to be easily swayed by fake news and to always refer to official information from the authorities.
