PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, continued to support the recovery of disaster-affected areas and communities in Sumatra. Together with the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) big family, through the BUMN Peduli (One Heart for Sumatra) program, coordinated by Danantara, BNI distributed emergency response aid to disaster-affected residents in Aceh.
This aid distribution was part of BNI's rapid response and concrete action in supporting the emergency response phase as well as the early recovery of affected communities, with a focus on meeting basic needs and supporting vulnerable groups, especially children.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the aid distributed included temporary housing, educational supplies, basic logistics, and psychological recovery support or trauma healing for children.
"BNI strives to provide assistance relevant to needs on the ground, not only to meet basic needs but also to support the mental recovery process of the community, especially children affected by disasters," Okki said in a written statement.
The aid distributed by BNI in Aceh included 30 tents, consisting of five 3x4 tents, five 3x6 tents, and twenty 6x14 platoon tents.
In the education sector, BNI distributed 400 elementary school uniforms, 700 junior high school uniforms, and 100 high school uniforms. To support children's trauma healing activities, BNI also distributed 200 dolls, 200 children's storybooks, 100 play sets, and a 24-square-meter puzzle mat.
In addition, BNI distributed other supporting aid in the form of 1,000 blankets, cleaning supplies such as soap, brushes, cleaning fluid, and brooms, four water tanks, 10 refillable flashlights, and 10 boxes of masks.
Okki added that all aid was being distributed in stages, prioritizing the principle of targeted assistance and coordination with local governments and relevant stakeholders to ensure the benefits are felt directly by the affected communities.
"As part of the state-owned enterprise (BUMN) ecosystem, BNI continues to collaborate with the government and various parties to ensure that humanitarian aid is distributed effectively and sustainably," he stressed.
Through the BNI Berbagi and BUMN Peduli programs, BNI affirms its commitment to continue supporting disaster-affected communities, both during the emergency response phase and the subsequent recovery process. BNI will continue to monitor developments on the ground and is ready to provide further support according to community needs.
