BNI Modernizes UGM Co-Working Space, Strengthening Student Collaboration and Innovation

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is strengthening its support for higher education development by modernizing co-working space facilities at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). The program, implemented through the BNI Berbagi social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) initiative, is expected to foster learning activities, collaboration, and creativity among the academic community.

The inauguration of the facility located at the UGM Library and Archives was carried out on Tuesday (13/5/2026) and was attended by UGM Chancellor Professor Ova Emilia, BNI Institutional Director Eko Setyo Nugroho, and members of the academic community.

BNI Institutional Director Eko Setyo Nugroho said that collaboration with universities is an important part of the company's commitment to supporting the advancement of national education and the development of a young generation that is adaptive to changing times.

"For us, collaboration with higher education institutions is not just an institutional relationship, but also a concrete manifestation of BNI's commitment to supporting the advancement of education with a spirit of wholehearted service," said Eko in a written statement.

According to him, the co-working space facility is designed as a collaboration and innovation space that can be utilized by students and academics to develop ideas and creativity that have an impact on society.

BNI believes that strengthening synergy between the education sector and the banking sector is increasingly important amid changing learning patterns and technological developments that demand more flexible and collaborative learning spaces.

UGM Chancellor Professor Ova Emilia said that the existence of modern collaboration spaces is now an important need in higher education environments.

"However, now, co-working spaces are not just quiet places, but places where people interact and learn," Ova said.

She added that the facility is expected to improve the quality of library services while also becoming a more comfortable, modern learning space and supporting interaction between students and lecturers.

In addition to supporting the development of educational facilities, BNI also appreciates UGM's trust in the company as its campus banking partner. The company continues to provide various financial solutions to support the needs of the academic community through integrated banking services.

Through ongoing collaboration with universities, BNI affirms its commitment to supporting the creation of a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable education ecosystem, while strengthening the role of the younger generation in national economic development.
