Indonesia Won Four Medals at the WJC in Cairo; BNI Commended PBSI’s Efforts to Develop Young Talent

Indonesian badminton has once again achieved success on the international stage by winning four medals at the BWF World Junior Championships 2026, held October 12–17, 2026, at the Cairo International Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

The Indonesian team brought home two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. This achievement highlights the potential of the nation’s young badminton generation, while also underscoring the importance of continuous development in maintaining Indonesia’s competitiveness.

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, as a strategic partner of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), commended the achievements of Indonesia’s young athletes and the PBSI’s consistent efforts in player development. The collaboration between BNI and PBSI has been ongoing for more than five years as part of their support for the development of national badminton.

Indonesia won two gold medals in the men’s singles and mixed doubles events. In the men’s singles, Indonesia staged an all-Indonesian final that pitted Radithya Bayu Wardhana against Fardhan Rainanda Joe on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Radithya emerged as the champion, while Fardhan took home the silver medal.

In the meantime, the mixed doubles title was won by the pair Muhammad Luthfi Habibi and Dian Ramadhani Mukti after they defeated the Chinese duo Feng Yi Lang and Li Meng Han. Indonesia also added a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event, bringing its total medal count at the championship to four.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that this achievement is a source of pride for Indonesia and demonstrates the immense potential of young athletes to continue to excel at the international level.

“This achievement demonstrates that Indonesia possesses a pool of badminton talent capable of competing at the international level. We commend the efforts of the athletes, coaches, and the PBSI for their ongoing work in developing a training pipeline that fosters the next generation of Indonesian badminton players,” said Okki in a written statement.

According to Okki, the partnership between BNI and PBSI is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the development of national sports, specifically by strengthening the processes for athlete training and succession.

This support is not merely focused on the outcome of a single championship; rather, it is also aimed at sustaining Indonesia’s track record of success by fostering the emergence of new talent capable of competing at various levels.

“BNI hopes this achievement will motivate young athletes to continue improving and encourage PBSI to further strengthen its development programs. Consistent talent development is a crucial foundation for ensuring Indonesia’s success in badminton continues,” said Okki.

Through its partnership with PBSI, BNI will continue to play a role in supporting the development of national badminton and the training of athletes as part of its efforts to uphold Indonesia’s tradition of excellence at the international level.
