Jakarta, 5 December 2020 --- In line with the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN), PT. Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) is increasingly focused on encouraging the people's economic movement. This time, BNI again collaborates with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (Persero) (PNM) as partners in lending to PNM-fostered partner SMEs.
The collaboration between the two SOEs was marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Director of Business Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of BNI, Muhammad Iqbal and the Director of Compliance and Risk Management of PNM, M.Q. Gunadi in Jakarta, Friday (4 December). Also present to witness the signing was the Head of Small Business Division 2 - Bambang Setyatmodjo.
To date, more than 10,000 debtors have received the benefits of credit distribution between BNI and PNM. To encourage the acceleration of community empowerment through this collaboration, BNI and PNM continue to be committed to increasing the absorption of lending by facilitating access to financing for MSMEs.
Iqbal conveyed, BNI will continue to be committed to supporting the MSME sector and empowering the people's economy. For this reason, BNI has two strategies to increase lending to MSMEs, namely direct distribution to MSME players, or indirect distribution through strategic partnerships with bank and non-bank financial institutions as is done with PNM.
"Since 2008, this loan distribution collaboration of BNI and PNM has been used for UlaMM and PNM Mekaar customers. ULaMM is a capital loan service for micro and small businesses accompanied by guidance to develop their business. UlaMM is a model of PNM and the financing distribution is done directly either to individuals or loans to business entities. "Mekaar is prepared to provide services for underprivileged women who do not have the capital to open a business or the capital to develop their business," said Iqbal.
On the same occasion, Gunadi also said that PNM will make the best use of the financing provided by BNI to improve the welfare of the poor.
"This will continue to be a joint homework to oversee MSMEs, especially during this pandemic, not only funding but also providing guidance in the form of increasing business capacity and customer assistance," said Gunadi.
This collaboration continues to be enhanced with a strategic alliance in distributing commercial loans to finance MSME economic players. With the aforementioned activities, the business activities of MSME players will remain productive, thus encouraging the acceleration of the PEN program, therefore, it is hoped that the national economy can further grow in 2021.
