Manado, 10 December 2021 -- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero), Tbk or BNI consistently shows its commitment to working on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. One of the series of SME development programs by BNI is to encourage financial inclusion and financing for Sahabat Ansor's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), which is a follow-up and implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GP Ansor and BNI in June 2021.
The MoU includes cooperation related to financing for GP Ansor MSMEs, BNI Agency business offerings to MSMEs fostered by GP Ansor, and business assistance for MSMEs fostered by GP Ansor. In this collaboration, BNI provides mentoring training to GP Ansor MSMEs in 34 Indonesian provinces starting on 5 October 2021 and ending in Manado, North Sulawesi. This series of mentoring training for GP Ansor MSMEs in Manado was held on Friday (10 December 2021).
The MSME Business Director of BNI, Muhammad Iqbal explained, MSMEs play an important role in the national economy because around 60% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is contributed by the MSME sector. MSMEs also absorb around 97% of Indonesia's total workforce.
"We realize that the MSME segment is one of the important growth engines for the Indonesian economy. Therefore, it is necessary to develop MSMEs through training and mentoring to be able to increase their capacity," he said.
There are at least four main things that BNI focuses on in assisting MSMEs, namely access to capital, access to financial services, access to technology and information; and Marketing access.
For access to capital, BNI launched Xpora as a one stop shopping solution hub so that MSMEs fostered by GP Ansor can also increase capabilities, gain access to digital knowledge, and expand markets overseas (Go Global).
"For MSMEs fostered by GP Ansor, BNI has also prepared People's Business Credit with a special scheme which is expected to provide convenience for the fostered MSMEs after meeting the established criteria," said Iqbal.
In terms of access to financial services, GP Ansor fostered MSMEs can also optimize BNI service tools that are in line with the latest technology trends, such as EDC, BNI Direct, Mobile Banking, to QRIS. The Company also has the Agen46 program as a BNI financial inclusion program without a bank branch (branchless banking) for the unbanked community.
"By the support of Technology and Information, BNI is also relatively superior to its peers, as evidenced by the 260 API Services owned by BNI. This support is used by more than 3,000 partners who can help MSMEs to improve the quality of their management and business operations," he said.
In the meantime, for easy access to markets and buyers, BNI has collaborated with ICSB, SMESCO, Ministry of Cooperatives, Ministry of Trade, PADI MSMEs, Shopee, bizmarket, to GAPMMI. "Hopefully, through this series of mentoring training between BNI and GP Ansor, it can provide many benefits, especially for MSMEs fostered by GP Ansor to be more productive, have high competitiveness, be innovative and technology-based," concluded Iqbal.
