BNI Xpora Facilitates Seaweed Exports

28/10/2023. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) consistently encourages local Indonesian MSMEs to increasingly Go Productive, Go Digital, and Go Global through the Xpora program. This time, BNI has succeeded in expanding the market of its debtors engaged in seaweed cultivation.

CV Adi Tirta is a seaweed farming company in Makassar, South Sulawesi that was established in 1975 before being delegated to Yoris Wanter, the founder’s son.

Yoris said that the main product sold by his company is seaweed with the types of Cottoni, Spinosum, and Glacilaria. Seaweed products will generally be processed as ingredients for medicines, basic ingredients for cosmetics, and raw materials for food.

CV Adi Tirta has been greatly fostered by BNI through the distribution of working capital loans as well as business matching from Xpora with overseas buyers and intercountry financial transaction facilities.

"CV Adi Tirta’s main focus is on the overseas market. Through the Xpora program, BNI managed to bring together CV Adi Tirta with new buyers in China,” said Yoris.

Yoris added that CV Adi Tirta has also entered markets in France, Spain, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam. He is optimistic that BNI will assist him in attracting more new international buyers.

Vice Chairman of Commission XI Amir Uskara appreciated the BNI Xpora’s efforts in making it easier for local MSMEs to go global.

Amir stated that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy. The MSME sector also employs the vast bulk of the labor force. As a result, banks must both participate actively in the MSME development program in order to maximize economic growth.

"For example, BNI through Xpora, one of whose hubs is in Makassar. With Xpora, more and more MSMEs have the opportunity to compete not only domestically, but also abroad. It is hoped that UMKM Go Global can provide a positive multiplier effect for Indonesia,” said Amir.
