15/05/2024. The natural disasters that have struck West Sumatra have been a bitter pill for the Minang region. Cold lava flood, flash flood, and landslide that hit a number of areas around Mount Marapi and Singgalang, left deep wounds for the community. Related to the disaster, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI was also concerned and moved quickly to help the victims.
As a form of concern and social responsibility, BNI provided aid worth Rp500 million to the affected victims. The assistance was distributed in the form of basic necessities, such as rice, instant noodles, mineral water, clothing, blankets, sanitary napkins, medicines, and other logistical assistance.
The aid to victims of the “galodo” disaster was distributed to several disaster locations in Tanah Datar Regency and Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Furthermore, assistance will also be distributed to a number of points in regencies/cities affected by the disaster.
BNI Network and Services Director Ronny Venir handed over the aid directly to one of the disaster locations of Simpang Manunggal Tanah Datar which was received directly by the Regent of Tanah Datar Eka Putra, Wednesday (15/5/2024).
“This aid is a tangible manifestation of BNI's commitment to always be present in the community, especially when they are in need. Hopefully this aid can help ease the burden on the victims,” said Ronny.
According to Ronny, BNI as a state-owned company that has a BUMN Bakti program or known as the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL), feels the need to share with disaster victims through BNI Berbagi.
“Through BNI Berbagi, we are committed to being present in all situations so that we can feel closely what our brothers and sisters who are affected by the disaster are experiencing,” he said.
On that occasion, Ronny also took the time to visit and at the same time handed over the aid to one of BNI employees whose house was affected by the “galodo” disaster as a form of management empathy towards the BNI family affected by the disaster.
BNI, he continued, understands that the natural disaster that hit West Sumatra has brought sadness and difficulties to many parties. Therefore, BNI makes every effort to ease the burden on the victims through various forms of aid.
“BNI is committed to continue to be present and help ease the burden on people who are being hit by disasters. BNI believes that by caring and working together, we can get through this difficult time together,” he concluded.
