BNI Supports Diaspora with Featured Programs Through Overseas Office Networks

21/08/2024. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, took part in the Diaspora Engagement Summit, a parallel discussion event that introduced the Overseas Citizenship of Indonesia (OCI) initiative and discussed the diaspora's role in realizing the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045.

The event, organized by the Indonesian Diaspora Network-United (IDN-U), took place at the JS Luwansa Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (19/8/2024). On this occasion, BNI and IDN-U signed a Memorandum of Understanding related to cooperation in supporting and developing the Indonesian Diaspora throughout the world.

Indonesian Diaspora Network-United (IDN-U) is a non-profit organization focused on the Indonesian Diaspora. IDN-U's main goal is to empower the Indonesian Diaspora and its network by increasing tangible and direct contributions to Indonesia.

The organization's focus is on strengthening networks, integrating existing diaspora elements, and leveraging the resources, expertise, and talents of the diaspora around the world. IDN-U is a global organization with networks spread across various countries.

In a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (August 21, 2024), BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said, BNI as a bank with a global network mandated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to provide integrated digital financial connectivity with international excellence, particularly for the diaspora, plays an important role in bridging Indonesia with the world in an effort to expand Indonesia's export market.

“Through this event, BNI as a provider of banking transaction solutions is committed to fully supporting the existence of the diaspora in achieving their financial goals,” he said.

As an Indonesian bank with an international network that has global capacity, BNI has a network of Overseas Offices (KLN) spread across Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul, New York, London, Tokyo, Osaka and Amsterdam.

Through BNI Xpora, the company offers three excellent programs for the diaspora while helping SMEs to enter the international market, called Go Productive, Go Digital, and Go Global.

BNI currently has 43,000 export-oriented Xpora customers, of which 20,000 or 46% have received capital facilities with an outstanding of IDR 30 trillion until June 2024.

In addition, BNI also targets five main segments through its overseas network, including the Diaspora, by providing banking services that include account opening facilities (Diaspora Saving), loan facilities to support diaspora businesses (Diaspora Loan), investment products to optimize diaspora investment (Diaspora Invest), and remittance services to send money to families in Indonesia.

Diaspora Saving is a special savings product from BNI designed for diasporas all around the world, providing convenience in conducting financial transactions overseas. This account can be opened online or at one of BNI's overseas branch offices.

Diaspora Loan is a BNI initiative that provides loans or credits to diasporas looking to expand their businesses abroad. Diaspora can use this loan to meet two primary needs: operational working capital and continued business development.

With personal guarantees that can be located in Indonesia, fast processing, competitive interest rates, flexible repayment scheduling, and short-term funding, diasporas can benefit from this facility.

BNI also provides banking services that support the expansion and operations of companies abroad, both for Corporations and Indonesian Subsidiaries. In addition, BNI also supports SMEs, especially through transactional banking services such as trade finance.

On the other hand, BNI also provides services for Global and Regional MNCs, targeting global and regional multinational companies that have business relationships with Indonesia. BNI offers comprehensive advisory solutions for financial institutions (FIs) and investors interested in exploring investment opportunities in Indonesia.

Currently, there are around eight million Indonesian diasporas divided into three categories, namely 10% students, 20% married to foreigners, and 70% Indonesian migrant workers. Through a network of overseas offices, BNI is ready to bridge SMEs and diaspora players to expand their export markets.

“We will facilitate this diaspora through Xpora, which enables Indonesian SMEs to grow their business through Go Productive, Go Digital, and Go Global initiatives, by bringing together suppliers and buyers,” Okki concluded.
