PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) participated in the International Disability Day 2024 event organized by the Pelita Bangsa Inclusion Foundation. This step is BNI's concrete action in supporting an equitable economy and encouraging financial inclusion.
Taking place at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) on Saturday (7/12/2024), the commemoration of International Disability Day 2024 began with a leisurely walk with BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar, Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence of the Attorney General's Office as well as Paris 2024 Paralympic Chief de Mission Reda Manthovani, and BNI Director of Human Capital and Compliance Mucharom.
In a series of activities for International Disability Day, which falls every December 3, the event held on Saturday morning presented a number of activities ranging from talk shows to special performances by the disability community. The event was also enlivened by visually impaired solo pop singer and songwriter Putri Ariani.
“BNI constantly supports so that our brothers and sisters from the disability community can continue to work in the field of sports and the creative industry,” said BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo in a written statement.
As a form of concern for the disability community, BNI also handed over CSR assistance in the form of basic necessities and free lunches to 2,500 participants. BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar symbolically carried out the handover, which was witnessed by Raffi Ahmad as the President's Special Envoy for Young Generation and Art Workers.
BNI's participation in this event complemented its commitment in supporting efforts to create an equitable and sustainable economy in Indonesia. Not long ago, BNI also collaborated with the Indonesian Disability Association (PPDI) through a special coaching and mentoring program for people with disabilities to become Agent46 partners.
The program involved 65 persons with disabilities as Agents46 and was recorded in the MURI record for the First Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities as Laku Pandai Agents. Through Agen46, people with disabilities are not only users of financial services but also play a role as resilient, independent and competitive economic actors.
“This strategic step emphasizes BNI's commitment to creating equal rights while empowering people with disabilities to actively contribute to economic development,” continued Okki.
These various initiatives and concrete actions were clear evidence that BNI is not only focused on strengthening the financial ecosystem, but also opening up opportunities for vulnerable groups to become part of the solution to equitable and sustainable economic development.
BNI continues to be an agent of change in creating an inclusive and competitive society, while inspiring other institutions to take similar steps.
