BNI's Real Contribution in the Infrastructure Sector, Supporting Connectivity and Economic Equality

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI confirms its commitment to support national development through active participation in the International Conference Infrastructure on June 11-12, 2025 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). This event brings together infrastructure sector stakeholders from domestic and overseas.

The two-day event was opened by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY). On the sidelines of the event, AHY together with the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Budi Arie Setiadi, visited BNI booth and were welcomed by BNI Deputy President Commissioner Tedi Barata, Independent Commissioner Vera Febyanthi, and other BNI management.

BNI was the only state-owned bank to open a booth at this conference. The momentum was used to introduce its contribution in various national strategic infrastructure projects. From modern transportation modes to toll road networks, BNI's presence is inseparable from efforts to support connectivity and equitable development.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that BNI's presence at this conference shows the consistency of the company's role as an agent of development.

We believe that infrastructure development is the main foundation of national economic growth, and BNI will continue to contribute to it," Okki said in a written statement.

BNI has made a significant contribution to this industry. In 2016, BNI was involved in financing the Palembang LRT project worth IDR4.59 trillion. In this project, BNI acted as Original Mandated Lead Arranger and Book Runner, and disbursed IDR1.99 trillion in financing. This project became an early symbol of BNI's support for rail-based public transportation.

BNI's commitment continued in 2017 when it supported the Jabodebek LRT project with IDR6 trillion in financing, part of the total project needs of around IDR18 trillion. BNI became one of the funding backbones that enabled the realization of intercity mass transportation in the Jabodetabek area.

In 2018, BNI participated in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Railway project. Through a syndicated loan worth IDR7.84 trillion, BNI provided financing of IDR515.27 billion to PT KAI and PT Railink. This support strengthens public access to air transportation quickly and efficiently.

Also in 2019, BNI participated in encouraging the acceleration of Indonesia's electrification, with financing of IDR 2.3 trillion for the construction of Steam Power Plants (PLTU) and Gas Engine Power Plants (PLTMG). In 2021, BNI contributed to the financing of the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) project with a capacity of 110 MW with a total financing of USD 34 million.

Furthermore, in 2022, BNI as one of the Joint Mandated Lead Arranger and Bookrunner with a syndicate of several banks funded the Solo-Yogyakarta-YIA Kulonprogo Toll Road Project with a total funding of IDR 9.89 trillion.

In 2025, BNI again showed its commitment by supporting funding for the procurement of 612 units of New Generation Stainless Steel trains in collaboration with PT KAI and PT SMI. This train is designed with ergonomic seats and high comfort to support the efficiency of public travel.

In addition to the railway sector, BNI has been active in funding strategic toll road projects such as the Jakarta Outer Ring Road II, Trans Java and Trans Sumatra. In 2024, BNI even became an important part of the Trans Papua Road funding structure and acted as a transaction advisor in the equity financing of the Trans Java project.

Not only stopping at transportation projects, BNI also penetrates other strategic sectors such as the development of economic zones and digitization of financial services in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN). The construction of a digital banking headquarters in IKN and IDR1.2 trillion funding for the Sanur SEZ is clear evidence of BNI's ongoing contribution in supporting Indonesia's economic growth.

“All of this reflects BNI's long-term commitment in supporting the overall progress of national infrastructure, through strategic financing, cross-sector collaboration, and service innovation that accelerates sustainable economic growth,” Okki added.
